Lucid Dreaming | Having FILD lucid dreaming problems... Any advice?

So I'm new to lucid dreaming, so I decided the FILD technique would be my best bet at learning to lucid dream as I plan on learning to induce lucid dreams via WILD later. However, in the many weeks I have tried I have failed every single FILD I have tried due to two reasons.

1. I sleep through my alarm.

Many times, when I try to FILD, I sleep through my alarm. I know I slept through it and didn't just forget I turned it off as the alarm is still set when I wake up (I have to manually turn off my alarm to get it to stop). It starts off soft and gradually gets louder. The alarm is pretty loud at max volume and there is no way to make it louder. However, I think I found a possible solution as yesterday and today I have woken up to my alarm. The possible solution I found is that if I repeat the line "I will wake up to my alarm tonight" over and over in my head before I go to bed, I will wake up at my alarm.

2. I lose my consciousness while performing the technique.

If I do wake up to my alarm, I usually lose consciousness while performing the technique. Right after I turn off my alarm, I immediately perform the FILD technique. I move my fingers like I'm supposed to and focus on my fingers like I'm supposed to, but for some reason, I always lose consciousness, before the 30 seconds are up and I have to do a reality check. I'm not sure how exactly I lose consciousness, as I always make sure to focus on my fingers, but I always do. I have no idea how to avoid this.

So does anybody have any suggestions for me? It would really help me out if someone could give me some tips. Thanks in advance.

EDIT
I have to walk to my alarm across the room to turn it off just to make sure I wake up for school and don't just fall asleep again.
