Lucid Dreaming | How to create a DILD method!

I've broken down the basics of how a DILD method is created. Feel free to use it to create methods, but post it ( or the link to it ) here, so that we can see it.

Basically, a DILD method consists of 2 things -

1. Subconscious Primer

2. Awareness

What is a Subconscious Primer?

A Subconscious Primer is something that you do to check if you are in a dream or not.

Subconscious Primer consists of 2 things -

1. Checking for discrepancies in the world, either WL or DW

2. Expectation of the unexpected

Awareness is created when the Subconscious Primer results in confirmation that a person is in a dream.

If Awareness isn't created, the Subconscious Primer is useless.

Examples:

Checking the no. of bodies existing.

iMda1 :shadewink:

Lucid Dreaming | Counting sheep!

I can't believe I didn't make the connection earlier so this may seem obvious, but it looks like a great tool for WILD or to fall asleep quicker, yet surprisingly since I got into lucid dreaming (about 2 years) I have never once heard of this as a technique.

Just the building of the visualizations seems like it should be a good dream practice on its own.

Going to add this to one of my daily techniques. I remember trying this as a kid and becoming bored really quick.

What love to hear anyone's attempts, experiences and thoughts perhaps as to why this technique for lucid dreaming has not been around (perhaps its just me who didn't see it)

Lucid Dreaming | Lucidity for Movie Lovers

Maybe in a WBTB or before going to sleep at night you can fall asleep listening to a movie soundtrack of one of your favorite movies and as you fall asleep you focus on the movie and place yourself in it and voila your first dream of the night or lucid dream involves being in that movie. :shadewink:

Lucid Dreaming | New Idea for an RC.

I apologize if this has been posted before, but I think I have an idea for an RC.

In waking life, you always see your nose in your peripheral vision.

In your dream, I don't know if this holds to be true.

Perhaps an RC is trying to go cross-eyed, or closing one eye and looking at your nose?

Just a thought.

Ideas?

Lucid Dreaming | Dry Spell Over/DILD/DEILD/False Awakenings/Id in control rather that Superego

Okay so my dry spell is over. I had my first lucid since 10 days ago. I changed my sleeping habit last night and went to bed at 10pm rather than 1am. This perhaps allowed me to have a lucid dream. What's funny is that it may have made such a big difference that additional reality checks during the day were apparently not needed and dream journaling wasn't so extensive the day before. I still had the LD experience. There could have been more clarity in my experience though. I knew I was in a dream but I didn't do a reality check. It was a DILD with some chaining involved and false awakenings. Terror or fear was my dream sign.:panic: I could have had more dream control but I didn't. Perhaps because the dream was already something I wanted to experience...an intimate moment with Keifer Sutherland. lol Anyway, I still wish I would have created another experience rather than a shallow experiment to relenquish the needs of an id. Anyone have this problem? Dream control diminished with the needs of an insatiable id?

Lucid Dreaming | subconsious help in lucididy

I recently had a dream where I had returned from another dimension, and then gone to school via a car as a guest ( I also brought something back from that place in a bag). Some of my classmates are trying to tell me about the discovery of a new 'conscious', while some others are avoiding me. The landscape of the school kept making minor changes, trying to hint me it was a dream. Even I felt that deep down I knew it was a dream, but was confused with the talk of conscious, which must mean something about LDing. Maybe this is a sequel to this dream....

Now as my subconscious is also trying to help me become lucid, any suggestions on how to fit it together and become lucid? And this dimension stuff, what is it?

Lucid Dreaming | How to reduce hypnic jerks?

They keep preventing me from WILDing. I keep getting spasms in my head and it snaps me out of paralysis and i have to start all over. When i start over, for some reason the vibrations never come back no matter how long i wait.

Fear is not the problem because I kind of like the vibrations, but I think that because I haven't been getting HH, I have nothing to focus on so maybe I am too aware of the vibrations instead of passively inviting them??? I don't know.....Please help. I suck at DILD and 95% of my lucid dreams come from WILDing out.

Lucid Dreaming | Vision problems in my last lucid dream

So I became lucid last night, which is awesome, but I found I had big problems with my vision in that dream.

I guess the dream started with me performing some kind of DEILD, where I counted to 3 and then decided that in the next scene I will open my front door at home - and I did get a dream like that!

The dream continued with me walking over to a big street of some kind (it looked like New York City), and I could feel myself walking, and vaguely hear people talking around me - but suddenly I couldn't really see anything, everything turned into some unclear grey blur with extremely unclear contours.

I tried to tell myself that I am going to get my vision back when I close my eyes and open them again - but I tried that several times and it was always this grey featureless mess.

And shortly after that I woke up.

Maybe I didn't really trust my ability to control my vision like that?

I seem to get different kinds of vision problems quite often in my lucid dreams.

Lucid Dreaming | 7 days since last Lucid Dream

I started my dream journal on December 20th, when I had my first lucid dream. This is what brought me here and what propelled me to keep a dream journal. I have had lucid dreams in the past but recently I became interested in lucid dreaming again full time because I already graduated from college and have more time on my hands to focus on lucid dreaming. What I'm wondering is why my lucid dreams haven't increased the more I've written in my dream journal. The way I see it is, the more dream recall and more reality checks I would expect more lucid dreams. This month alone I've had 4 lucid dreams which I guess is not so bad considering some people's lucid dream count. But It's been 7 days now and no lucid dreams even though I have immersed myself in lucid dream reading and exercises. You'd think I'd have more lucid dreams. One week two weeks ago I had 2 lucid dreams in one week but now it's been 7 days. I wonder why? I have all these plans I want to realize in my lucid dreams and can't wait to do it. I hear about people have lucids everyday. I want to get to that point.

Lucid Dreaming | Almost DEILD?

So I was dreaming and then I woke up, I wasn't moving or opening my eyes I just layed there and tried to remember my dream. I felt my hands and body getting heavy and my fingers were tingly. My chest started getting heavy and I thought "great, I'm entering sleep paralysis!" I was excited. My eyes were closed the whole time trying to see the dream. But my dad woke me up and I could move just a little bit for a second and I had control. My eyesight was blurry and it went back to normal

Lucid Dreaming | How effective are daily targets if you can achieve them yourself?

Stephen LaBerge mentions in his book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming a list of random "Daily Targets" that you are supposed to look out for each day, 4 targets per day, and the idea behind this practice seems good enough.

However, how effective are the kinds of targets that you can choose to accomplish whenever you want to?

For example, targets like seeing yourself in the mirror, turning on a television or handling money.

I can do those things whenever I want, and if I have a reason to do them then I could also try to do them as fast as possible, just so I can mark them off.

How am I supposed to treat targets if I know I am about to do them in a moment?

If I want to listen to something on the radio then I will be aware that "Next time I turn on a television or radio" is going to be a daily target, so it doesn't come as a surprise.

Lucid Dreaming | Modified wristwatch

I had an idea some time ago about having a watch that says "Now" as now is technically the only time we live in =) Checked online and found some people that have previously done it. Might as well make one

So I removed the plastic covering around an old wristwatch and put a paper with the word "Now" printed, and placed the plastic bit back in its place.

now writstwatch pic.jpg

Going to give it a go in wearing this throughout the day to remind me to be aware of things, so hopefully I will become more present daily and nightly.

On the day I made this, I had a dream I checked my watch, became lucid but soon woke =) On the the day I made, I didn't even wear it. so hopefully I can get good results by actually wearing. Here it goes.

Lucid Dreaming | Does Sleep Position Matter for WILDs and OBEs?

I'm trying to gather the mental resources to have a WILD and a possible OBE but I was wondering if it's okay for me to lie on my side since it's what I am use to, or do I have to lie on my back which feels so awkward and robotic. Thanks!

Lucid Dreaming | DEILD and REM Cycles

So I've been finally getting pretty good at naturally waking up a few hours into sleep (I'm in my WBTB period right now :D), and I've always assumed that the reason we do this is because after we come out of a REM cycle, it takes a little bit for our mind to go into the next cycle, but I don't really know.

My question is: assuming the above is true, how is a natural DEILD supposed to occur, if when coming out if the REM cycle it will take a bit of time to get into the next? I get how DEILDs are useful for chaining LDs, that part makes sense. But in the few guides I've read, I've noticed they say to wake up after non-lucid and to start the DEILD process. Any thoughts?

Lucid Dreaming | Should I focus entirely on noticing my False Awakenings?

I seem to have a talent for False Awakenings - at least if I go to bed at a reasonable time - because last night I went to bed at 11 PM and got up at 7 AM, and I clearly remember that I dreamed about waking up, and this seems to happen a lot if my sleep schedule is decent;

so I was wondering, should I perhaps invest all my MILD practice on noticing those False Awakening dreams?

So that for example, I would use a mantra like "next time I wake up, I will check if I am dreaming"?

Lucid Dreaming | Reality Check: Staring Through Your Eyelids Tutorial

In a dream, can you see right through your eyelids? Of course, you can!

Here's a reality check you can do anywhere at any time:

1. Close Your Eyes

2. Try to look right through your closed eyelids.

* If you are dreaming, you can still see with your eyelids closed.

* If you are awake, you will see blackness, or maybe some slight blobby colors on a black background.

This RC is not full-proof, like every RC. Even in a dream, if you close your dream eyes, you may teleport, see blackness, alter the setting, or even wake up. Because of this, I suggest before you do this RC, you calm yourself, and sit down in the dream to prevent yourself from waking up from getting too excited and releasing adrenaline into your physical body. Then, do the RC, and tell yourself, "I am dreaming."

Lucid Dreaming | Question on Exploring The World of Lucid Dreaming

In the book "Exploring The World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge, he lists a technique for using dream signs to become lucid; it as follows.

CATALOGING YOUR DREAMSIGNS

What I'm confused with the fifth step which says "Make a habit of examining your daily life for events that fit under your dreamsign category. For instance, if your target category us action, study how you, othr people, animals, objects and machines move and act. Become thoroughly familiar with the way things are in waking life."

I'm confused with that because my target category is 'context' and I really don't know how to study context, or even know what that means.

Making a 20dB Low Noise Amplifier for a 400MHz radio

[Will] recently tipped us about a 400MHz Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) module he made. His detailed write-up starts by explaining the theory behind an amplifying chain. Assuming a 50 Ohm antenna system receives a -70dBm signal, the total peak to peak voltage would be less than 200uV (.0002 volts). If the first amplifying stage doesn’t consist of an LNA, then the added noise would later be amplified by the other elements of your system.

[Will] then detailed how he picked his LNA on Digikey, mainly by looking for one that had a less than 1dB Noise Figure. His final choice was the Sky65047: a small budget-priced 0.4-3.0GHz low noise amplifier with a theoretical gain of 20dB at 400MHz. He made the PCB you can see in the picture above, removing the soldermask on the signal path in order to lower the permitivity. Because of a few mistakes present in the application note, it took [Will] quite a while to get his platform up and running with a 20dB gain but a 4.5dB NF. He also measured the input return loss using a directional coupler, which ended up being quite close to the datasheet’s 14dB number.

Lucid Dreaming | Back after a year and a half. A few questions.

Warning long post - worth it to read :DHey everyone. I am back into lucid dreaming having not tried anything for quite some time. I have a history in my life of well.... not sticking to things, regardless of how much they mean to me or how bad I want it. Lucid dreaming has always been that awesome thing that I wish I could do but it's never been important enough to me that I wanted to invest time into it. After all, working full time, going to college, exercising, maintaining a relationship, owning animals etc takes a lot of my time, I don't have a lot to spare. I also have trouble sticking to something if I don't get good results (IE: putting in time but only getting maybe a few lucids a month) My goal is to get 3 lucids a week, which I know is very possible. Over the years I have learned a few things about my dreams - 1, The situation is always odd and never like anything ordinary in waking life, 2 is that all these awkward situations usually happen in places I've never been and my mind makes up, or in places I rarely go. I've heard that knowing your dream signs can help with making effective reality checks. Knowing these dream signs makes me think I should question my current situation and position in my day, rather than reading text or plugging my nose. Would this be effective? I am looking for a technique to stick with and not jump around like I used to. MILD relies on your intention to remember to RC in a dream. With me, when I set an intention to do something, that subconscious though is with me until it gets done. Would this be beneficial to practicing the MILD technique? As for the Visualization part of MILD I do not fair so well. My visualization skills are slim to none... I just can't see anything in my mind. Should this stray me from techniques that use visualization? As for dream journaling, I feel it is not fair to my girlfriend that every time I wake up and remember something I turn on bright lamp and begin writing XD. How can I get around this problem with dream journaling? I seek advice. What should I begin to focus on first?

For anyone who took their time to read this, I thank you.

Namaste

A little side note: My first, and most memorable LD is what still motivates me to this day. I remember the very second I got lucid, my stomach dropped, my legs got weak, and that moment of pure "Oh... my... god" the feeling of being completely aware in this world amazed me to the point that I've never lost interest. I want that feeling again.

Lucid Dreaming | How vivid can daydreams become?

I'm not sure if this counts as lucid dreaming, but it is arguably closely related.

Anyway, I read somewhere a while ago that Nikola Tesla was extremely skilled in daydreaming, so that his daydreams were almost as vivid as lucid dreams.

This certainly sounds interesting, but how hard is it to practice visualization skills to that level?

Now daydreams and lucid dreams are obviously not quite the same thing, but they are similar in many ways, and very vivid daydreams could probably have a very powerful effect on your emotions.

Lucid Dreaming | BB's Ideas, Thoughts, and Ramblings

Holy Crap, this is going to be long. If you buckle up and read through it, you should be able to learn something though. I am going to give you a lot of information, experiences, and conclusions, so you should be able to just look at the conclusions if you just want to believe me, or the experiences if you want to come to your own conclusions, or my information if you want to go through your own experiences. Remember, of course, that a fool learns from his own mistakes, and a wise man learns from others mistakes. This is going to be more in depth than I originally thought, but it will be fun for me to get it all out on paper. Sorry if this is too long for you to read, or shorter than you were expecting.

Beginning

How does almost every Lucid dreamer start? 6 years old nightmares. When I was a kid I started having constant nightmares and my mom told me two things.

Information

If you get in a nightmare just wake yourself up

If you wake up from a nightmare don’t just lay there or you can go back into the nightmare.

I automatically started waking up from nightmares, and as far as I remember, I had about 7 nightmares until I was 8. No more until I started LDing again, but that is a different story.

Conclusions

I have looked at a lot of naturals, and they all seem to start out somewhat like this. An older person making a small comment and it gets in their head. I didn’t pursue this, or else I might be a :::shudder::: natural. Thank goodness that I am not.

Nightmares

Nightmares seem to have a few options.

One:

Nightmares are more aware than other dreams, so when in them you have an inkling that it is real

Nightmares become nightmares because you are more aware.

In all dreams you have the idea that it is a dream and you can wake up. When you have the pre-intent to wake up when things get scary, you use that to your advantage, sometimes without even realizing that you are dreaming.

After This

I get out of dreaming all together. Dont know why. Till I am about 15. I start a few different practices for nighttime.

I would stay up late at night daydreaming or reading and imagining things. My imagination got pretty high at the time.

I thought that if I lay still after a dream (like I tried not to do on nightmares) I should be able to enter back into a dream.

Experience/conclusion

My dreams took on more of stories instead of randomness that they normally do. And because of my laying still (incubating) I was able to "finish" dreams.

16

I realized that dreams seem to come from what you think about all day. So I started imagining using the force all day every day. After 3 weeks I start seeing it in almost all of my dreams. Keep it up for a while, but then forget about the day practice, however the idea of doing the force in the dream stays and I use it in dreams all the time.

Some cute girl tells me to watch anime, so I do and I start adding a few things in my dreams. Rasengan, Melcher's door, chidori. None of them stick as well as the first, but it takes less time to get in the dream.

After I am 17 I have no time to spend playing basketball in my free time, so I spend all my nights fantasizing the footwork. I find it strange how my imagination follows the rules of logic, even outside a dream. I get better at basketball this way as well.

I played basketball from 6-8 m-f and most Saturdays not including games. When I got home at 8 I would set my alarm and then hit snooze over and over. One morning I realized that I was dreaming. I saw the gal I liked and I said "well since this is a dream we should go on a date" a DC stopped me before and told me that it wasnt a dream. I got confused and woke up.

Another time I realized that it was a dream and knew that I needed to go somewhere. I woke myself up before I remembered that I had an alarm set.

I spent about 90 days on a DJ as well when I was younger. I started getting about 2 dreams a night before I got bored of it.

Conclusions on these.

First is day residue obviously. I practiced quite a bit of incubation and such through this. This might have helped my confidence before LDing, but not much else because of the next part. Incubation seems to be something that you can practice and goes really well with subconscious expectation (will talk more about this later).

More data.

I have always hated sleep, so 18, 19, and 20 I slept about 5 hours a night. School, work, and girlfriend dominated my life and didn't leave much time for sleep in my opinion. Not a great excuse, I am twice as busy now as I was then, and I have time for sleep.

I developed a sleep schedule that I would go to sleep at different times and get a dream. I didn't think that it worked too well, but then I would always remember dreams later in the day. I had an average of 1 dream a night, even without sleeping much ever. I heard 2 things over this time.

If you wake up from a dream you will remember it (or have a higher chance of remembering it)

If you look at the color blue you will have a better chance of remembering dreams.

19 almost 20

My sister tells me that some people recognize that they are dreaming and can use that to control their dreams. I look up some stuff about it. I get two small bits of information and go for it.

Naps increase the chances.

Go to sleep intending to LD and you will.

I take a nap and viola. LD

Spoiler for LD:

I am walking down the street working and someone tells me that Voldemort is after me. I freak out and somehow think of the whole "LDing" thing that I had read about. I start to think about it and then bam! I am in a white room like the one in the matrix and I know that I am dreaming. I look at my hands and they are all messed up, almost like I can't focus on them or am focusing on something beyond them. I remembered some of the things that they said about talking, spinning, observing, I pick up a black rock and start spinning, saying "this is a dream" I also remembered that they said that it is hard to stay in LDs at first. I feel myself waking up and I look intently at the rock, it is jet black and has silver speckles on it. I wake up and am back at my work, I go home and everyone tells me to go downstairs where Voldemort is waiting for me, I jump down (Holy crap just thought of something new :3) and wake up.

Some could say that this was a "fake lucid dream" because of the "dream of a dream", but I knew 100% I was dreaming and even thought of dream things, FAs or dream scene changes often steal lucidity.

And then... I got married. Another chance that I could have taken that and gotten good without techniques. That might actually have been good. But I spent the first year of marriage just doing my timing method of remembering dreams.

21

Normal dream almost every night like always, and then all of the sudden I have this dream

Spoiler for LD:

I am on a trip away from home, the dessert around me as dry as anything and the only thing that I can think of is this girl that has grown attached to me. She is short and nice, but very shy, I did not get a name because she didn't talk much. The city around reminds me mostly of Favela (like in modern Warfare, and real life). It seemed like I was in the dream for about a week, so I have no idea how long this actually lasted.

Me and this girl are trying to get away from the group so that we can talk and start going around this abandoned building. We are exploring empty corridors and just having a good time. The rest of the group caught up to us with some sort of tour guide and I stopped paying attention to the girl for one second and she ran away because there were too many people. I chased her down and that is when things changed in my mind.

I haven't followed a girl like this for a while, but she seems awesome. Why haven't I been going after girls? I thought. Wait! I am married, that is why I shouldn't be looking for a girlfriend. Then this must be a dream! I stopped and looked around. There were two roads ahead of me, one that the girl just took on the left, and an identical one on the right (everything still seems like Favela from COD MW2)

I shouldn't chase the girl down now that I remembered that I am married, I should go the other way. I turned right.

I jump over a fence after the turn and find myself in a backyard, the grass is perfectly green, the houses seem to be made of mud, but they are shining somehow, everything is extremely vivid. In the back yard there is a Rose, it was the most beautiful plant I have ever seen. The stem and leaves were the darkest black and the rose the brightest red. It was perfectly centered in the square backyard, and I looked at the house next to me as well. Every backyard had the same layout with the same rose in both directions, and it seemed to go on to infinity.

I felt myself waking. It had been forever since I had read about dreams, I couldn't remember what to do to stay in a dream. I thought maybe spinning was one so I started spinning very slowly, but as I did an old man came up to me from the front yard.

"You must be like the flower if you wish to stay" He said, and then went back the way he came. I stopped spinning and looked at the beautiful flower again
. Then I awoke.

My wife is going studying abroad to mexico and I decide to spend the 42 days learning to LD. I dont get any LDs. I look all at youtube videos and things like that. Nothing actually good.

Then a little later I get ETWOLD! I finally get an LD or two or three. Very spread out. Fun though.

I know it looks like my LDs have exploded since then, which is partly true, but honestly I feel like I have worked very hard for them and that application of knowledge, expectation, and consistency can work this well for everyone.

I started writing my DJ religiously and always having good goals to go after.

My goal journal looked like this:

| | | Week 1 | Dreams | Lucids | | | 07/1 | I | | | | 07/2 | II | | | | 07/3 | II | I | | | 07/4 | I | | | | 07/5 | | |

Dreams total: 8

Lucids: 1

END Journal

I always used 6 day weeks so that I could have 5 a month and have more goals. After I started getting 10 dreams or so a week, I made a change to only putting down dreams that I had written in my journal, I got that up to 36 a week and then I quit DJing because of time constraints. Here is a couple good places to get better at recall and dream journaling.

How to effectively Dream Journal

Dream Recall Compendium

Waking yourself up without an alarm

All of these take a consistent sleep schedule. Without it, you are wasting your time and intent. There are a lot of studies about intent and willpower, and intent and will power have a limited supply. It is kind of like a muscle, if you overwork it, it will stop working, so when dealing with it, it is best to make sure that you are using it right so that you don’t mess it up and do it wrong!

Water, expectation, and rhythm

If you can’t do this, it will take longer to LD. I would recommend practicing this for a while, if you want a quick way to do it, drink some water before bed (don’t do it if you are young or old and this can be a problem). Depending on how much you drink you will wake at different times of the night. Try different amounts of water and when you find some good times to wake up (for recall, awareness, and vividness). Then try to take away the water for the last one or two wakings and wake up without it. When you get better and better you don’t even need intent.

With just intent

You can also try the water thing with this, but it would be better without. The first thing to do is get a set schedule. sleeping the same time each night and waking the same time. Try to wake up 5 minutes before your alarm each day. Automatically, you will find yourself waking right before the alarm (it is something programmed into your brain). It should be somewhere near 5 minutes at first, because the thing that makes you wake up before the alarm couples with intent. Then, keep thinking that you will wake up at that time, but also think that you will wake up about 3 or 4 hours before that. Think of the time (prolly like 3 or 4) and know that you will wake up then. Because of the first part you should have some expectation working on your side, and it will make this part a breeze. Then add times until you get to 4-6 wakenings a night, any more than that can mess with you, unless you use the last REM snooze troll, but that isn’t something I do, so ask other people about it. :P

Some thoughts on Intent

In the 42 days that my wife was gone I got my sleep schedule 100% on track, and I had always practiced waking with intent. I found it easier than ever since I did it every single night and didn’t have anyone trying to keep me up all night. ;) My wife found the same thing, so we both decided to make sure that we keep a good schedule, my head was so much clearer sleeping all the time and it helped me out a lot in school and work. You may not realize this, but sleeping too much or too little can kill the amount of willpower (intent) you have and make it harder to do things in waking life as well because the motivation is gone.

LaBerge helped me learn how easy it was to LD and how to fall asleep well, DV kept me well motivated and gave me some people to work hard with to keep me on track.

Here are some thought processes that I went through when first trying to LD and some I go through now that are good for intent and expectations

"I have been a dreamer of sorts my whole life, I should be good at this."

"I am going to be the best ever."

"What is the difference from this night and a night that I lucid dreamed?"

"Even if I caught on slow at the very beginning, I can make up for it later, because I always do better after learning more."

Anyways... I did lot of meditation with stuff like this. Get myself to believe that I basically had exactly what it takes to be the very best (that no one ever was).

RCing

In my opinion a lot of things that we do like this are trying for day residue and we would be better off trying to use incubation. incubation is funner as well. However, trying to think about LDing all the time is the overarching goal, but is that really what we want? Something that takes up our mind process all the time. I like hukif’s idea of the ADA/RC that is just always in the back of your mind. I have no success with this so far, but we will see, because I am only a month or so in.

WILD before before bed
The forbidden fruit! ah!!! ;) I know people don’t like talking about this, because either “it can’t be done” or “certain people can do it and then there is the rest of us.” I can only state my personal experience.

I have done it twice. I have only tried it like 10 times, which is much higher than my normal WILDing rate.

BUT! The other 8 times that I tried this I ended up not being able to sleep or getting really close to sleep and seeming to lose the first hour and a half of sleep. So that messed up my chances for WILD and DILD later. So I deemed it too dangerous, might pick up at a later date. Also my LDs from it were very short, so I don’t know if that is because me or the cycle, but it wasn’t worth the effort. Note that 2/10 was after about 150 LDs, of which 70 were WILD types (DEILD and WILD) so I was already used to the phase, so my chances for succeeding were far above a beginner, but still not worth it.

DJing

Good for you, can help recall. Takes too much time and seems to kill motivation for LDing. I don’t bother with it anymore (since January 2013) and it seems to have a small effect on my recall. I don’t think that it is worth it for me, it might help you more than me, but a micro WBTB (or 6) is really the best for recall in my opinion. ;) I think that it might be irreplaceable at first, but any person can get peak recall without it. Now you may not remember your dreams in a month, so you might want to make sure you right down the ones you want to save, or at least the key details. I write down key details at every awakening during my:

Micro WBTB!!!!

I have talked a little about this before, honestly the micro WBTB blows a normal WBTB out of the water. It is really simple and easy, wake up to a point close to where you won’t be able to get back to sleep and then go back to sleep. tap up some dreams on your phone or computer or write them down as well. Very simple. It works best if you use my intent or water method, but you can use an alarm if you want to. :P Make sure to go from the right end at finding the perfect balance of awake/asleep and go from too tired to too awake so that you don’t have nights that you can’t get back to sleep.

WILD/DILD

So I noticed some similarities in WILD and DILD techniques and decided to try them out together at the beginning, a little risky but whatever. Each time when going to sleep I will be trying for both, no reason to just go for one. I get all the expectation and intent up for a DILD and then try to fall asleep without losing consciousness for WILD. Now the key to this is like the last one, and lean toward losing consciousness instead of keeping ahold of it as hard as you can, sleep needs to be had above all. I wouldn’t have as many WILDs or DILDs if I did this.

DEILD and Stabilization

You all know DEILD and stabilization. If you don't, then read about them here.

DEILD:

Dutchraptor's Deild Guide - Become an Ld god.

Stabilization:

My Tutorial for extending Lucid Dream Time. Hours of LD. - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

One of the biggest things in losing stability is worrying about losing the dream. DEILD is really simple and easy, you can read the guides or go by the guide I heard when I first started LDing:

"If you wake up from a dream, you can just play dead and go back to the dream."

Simple and easy. :)

So after this simple and easy tech, I get a DEILD after most lucids. At first I used a lot of stabilization ideas to stay lucid, but after I got the idea stuck in my head that any time I wake up early from a dream I can just DEILD back. I never worried about it and all of the sudden my lucids got way longer and I stopped being able to DEILD after them, almost like I DEILD only if I wake up at the end of the cycle, but if I don't wake up early, I won't be able to DEILD. So now I don't have any reason to stabilize, other than just calming myself, because if you are too excited when you wake up for a DEILD, it is hard to go back in. Expectation at work.

Stabilization

I have a few ways to stabilize, so I will note the ideas down here.

Stress and frustration

A biiiig problem among prospective LDers. Most people have these two thoughts:

"I don't stress about anything!"

But later on I see them getting frustrated by their LDs. This leads to undproductivity in everything. If you have a drive for more instead of a frustration from the past, you will see major improvement.

Frustration is the gap between what we expect and what we experience. So should you lower your expectations so that you dont get frustrated? Frick no! Last year I wanted 365 LDs. I had gotten 52 the six months before. 365 would have been out of this world good! I didn't get it. I got 325. But! 325 is way more than most people would expect for the 6-18th month of LDing, so I can be proud about that. Set your final goals to something crazy. Set your timed goals to a barely out of reach place, something that you would have to do better than you are now to acheive. This is why I want 1000 LDs this year. Because if I keep at the pace I was at the last 6 months, I will easily get 400. Screw that. I am gonna be beyond that in the next 12 months. I expect to do better, but if I fail, I will fa short of a mighty goal, not a wimpy one! :P

Goals vs lucidity

A lot of people claim goal initiated lucid dreams, and I have noticed something I think is interesting. Some people accomplish a lot in their lucid dreams even in the first 100. Which is a little strange, because of the next thing I am putting. I think however that for most people, concentrating on a goal will make them lucid less often, because their intent is split between two things. So a lot of people will only get 5 lucid dreams a month or so and accomplish things in 3 because they always want to do goals. I really believe that this is kind of wanting to score a touchdown before catching the catch. This can cause you to miss the catch. I know I dont accomplish a lot in LDs (I try a goal in like 25% of LDs, and it just jumped to that. It was closer to 10%), but I am working on getting lucid now, and after that I will start working more on all my goals. A lot of you wonder why I am racing ahead in LD count, I am working only on this.

Good workers do first things first and work on one thing at a time.

A big difference in my life of LDing has been a quote from a well known pastor in Montana, Levi Lusko

"If you follow someone, you will end up where they end up."

Obviously this was said about who Christians follow and the company they keep, but it really applies in every hobby and anything that you do.

Obvious and simple, yet everyone seems to forget this. They see someone with a week of LDing off a technique and the person had 5 LDs, yet they listen to what that guy says vs what sageous or someone else that knows about LDing says because it is easier. Listen to the advice of people that are either heading where you want go, or are where you want to be.

Another good quote we all prolly know:

"Aim for the stars and even if you fail you can land on the moon."

A lot of people have a goal of 1 lucid a week or 1 lucid a night. The problem with this is that they fall short of their goals and end up with a small number. You want 1 lucid a week, but you get one a month. You want 1 a night, but you get one every two weeks. Etc. I aim for more lucids per night than anyone ever, and through my intent believe that I can get their, now I may not, but I may fail and end up where people like hukif are at. Make sense? It does to me, so I guess that is all that matters.

If you want a lot of LDs, you gotta change your expectation, so that even if you are below expectations, you LD a lot.

Dream Control

As far as I have found, dream control is pretty easy, but it takes some basic types of dream control, call them what you will.

A Expectation controlling

This is probably what you hear most. "just change what you expect" problem being, I "expect" to succeed, but my subconscious expects me to fail, haha, and subconscious expectation is what your dream is guided by. I believe that expectation is governed by experience, so if you are having trouble just expecting something to happen, there are a couple ways I know around it.

1 No turning back

I first tried to fly when I first LDed (like everyone else), but I couldn't seem to do it. I believe it is because when I jump, I know the exact time I am going to land because of years of jumping and practicing my vertical, so unlike most people that jump less than 1 time a day, I jump at least 100 times a day, so this feeling of jumping and landing is burned into my mind. I had to change my expectation, but the problem after this was, after failing, my expectation changed to failing, and it wasn't until about 70 LDs in that I stopped having troubles with it, because I had to convince my subconscious that I really expected to fly. I was always good at flying cars and telekinesis, so I used flying cars 3 times and jumped out when I got high enough for it to hurt (a mile up or so). Each time I would start flying after falling for about 30 seconds.

2 Remember

So now my expectation was to be able to fly only when jumping out of cars, but I was able to turn it over to always by remembering the last time I flew, and not thinking about the jumping out of cars, just remembering that I could fly.

3 Fake memories

I know that all of you have had these in non lucids, but you can have them in lucids as well, and it is the easiest way I have found to change expectation on something that you have not experienced. Think of a time that you did something that you have not done. It is hard to do at first, but it is very simple, at first you feel like you are lying about it, but when you start to get good at it, you start creating a dream world from fake memories and getting cookies out of the oven because you "put them there" and moving the sun in the sky because you do this every day. it is pretty nice.

4 Walking

I realized that remembering flying was taking time and mental energy after a while and developed a new way to do it. I know do this way with a lot of stuff, but do the other techniques for fun. I call this the walking technique because that is where I came up with the idea. I realized that in non lucids, you do whatever feels natural all the time, you jump into a virtual reality of crazy without a second thought, fight Charles Xavier? Why not? I had a semi lucid dream turn into a full blown lucid, in which I was already flying and having a date with my wife. I wondered how I was flying without doing my memory technique, and I realized that I had just flown because it was something that the previous thought process didn't have to think twice about it. I was contemplating this all day, and when I was walking down the street on my route I thought of something:

"I haven't thought about walking all day, yet I am doing it." I realized that this was the attitude I should take with flying in dreams. I could call it a "meh" attitude, don't really think about it, just do it. Don't "fly" over to that mountain, just go over there.

5 dream universe

Sounds weird, but it is very simple, it is the normal control you use everywhere you go, you want to start a car, turn the key, you want to change the channel, grab the remote. This is simple, and people seem to forget about it the most. This is by far the easiest form of dream control, as all it takes is for you to use an object as it was originally purposed, or your body. If you want to be able to do something like a "kamehameha wave" or "rasengan" it might be easier to do it if you are with Goku or in Konoha (respectively). Asking a dream character how to do something is a good way to get away from having to summon a DC or teleport, because if they think that you can do it, then the universe believes you can do it. I believe that this is how people fly so easily (most). They believe that when in a dream it is easy to fly, most have had "flying dreams", so the universe they assigned themselves "dream world" is a world where you can fly. I used to have a hard time summoning something in front of my eyes, but one time I became lucid at hogwarts, and making a patronus or any magic I knew with a wand was easy, because of where I believed I was at. Hope this makes sense. :P

B Direct Controlling

Honestly all direct control could be just expectation control, a lot of people call it "will power" that they use to change the world to what they want, but it could just as easily be dream universe control, with the thought "because this is a dream, I can do anything". :P just a thought though.

SSILD

Some people think that I am "really good at SSILD" because of the 30 day trial run. Honestly, when I did that I was already on a good LDing run, and SSILD complemented (just found out that there is a difference between compliment and complement 0_0 blew my mind) it a lot. This technique is the basic Micro WBTB, and some awareness exercises in my opinion, good to add on to a schedule if you want, but not as a full technique, it should raise awareness in a dream, but it doesn't matter if you never think about dreams ever.

lucispiration

I feel like something we all need to look at is exactly why we want to LD and find things that go with it. My "lucid encouragement" thread gives a lot of ideas for this. Things like Sword Art Online, the Matrix, Ready Player One, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Owl City, Adventure time, and many many other things are things specific to me. I would recommend writing down a list of all the things that make you want to LD and doing at least one a day (music in the background, one chapter of a book, one issue of manga, or just think about it for a bit).

Summary conclusions and Awareness

I didn't say much about awareness. I feel like for me awareness comes just from raising recall, so all I need to worry about on that side is really sleeping enough. Like Sageous has said, lucid dreaming is a 3 legged stool, and if you remember the analogy, expectation wasn't one of the legs, because I believe that it isn't something limited to LDing, you gotta believe in yourself if you want to LD. That is why people that LD are normally in good shape, they are people that do what they want to do, not people with a lot of time. If it was people with a lot of time that accomplished things, then America would be filled with awesome wonderful things since the unemployment rate is so high, but it seems like the people that don't work to keep a job normally don't work on anything, hence unemployed (this is just for most, there are a lot of people, especially near where I live) that got laid off and actually try really hard to get back to work, but there just is too few jobs. You need to be driven and self motivated, you need to stick with it, even when you don't want to. Every other month or so I have a span of 10 days where I would rather do anything but try to LD.

You have heard "if at first you dont succeed..." Blah blah blah. Simply enough, think of it like this. You only have to succeed in one way in order to be successful. It works for your job and many other places, like LDing. You don't need to LD like hukif in order to be successful at LDing. Looking at a few people that LD every single every night, I can tell you that there is only one thing that makes them similar, they didn't give up, even after years of going.

Being successful could also be deciding to do something, or not to do something beforehand, and not changing your mind no matter what. Yet again, applies to everything, but in LDing, you will want to quit, so promise yourself that you will try to LD every night for the next 2 months, no exceptions, and then after that you add one or two nights a month where you still try and LD, but don't worry about the sleeping part. Go party or whatever you want. When you start LDing, you need to count the cost or you will end up leaving when the bill comes.

Special thanks to Hyu, had I not read your DJ I would have counted LDing not worth it because not many people talk about going back to universes, but you came out with a guide for persistent realms about a week before I found your DJ.

If anyone disagrees with me or thinks I am bonkers, then good for you! I don't really care about being right 100% of the time, but about coming up with useful theories, if I am wrong though, I would like it to be stated so that I can think over your opinion and mine and use the most useful. I hope this is thought provoking and fun for you to read.

If you want my thoughts about a specific thing, then ask in the comments, and I will answer and put the answer in the original thread (if a staff member will help me with it ;)). I don't put much about a few subjects like awareness because there are people that exceed in this area and it would be better for you to read one of their ramblings.

Lucid Dreaming | 5+ years and no luck??

I apologize if this is in the wrong place.

I was introduced to Lucid Dreaming in late 2008 and from that moment, I knew it was something I was going to learn to do no matter what it took. I bought books, searched the internet, talk with people and did everything I could. I bought a dream journal and recorded all the parts of my dreams I remembered in the morning. (Thankfully, I have way better dream recall than I ever did. I can remember like four or more of my dreams a night.) I do multiple reality checks during the day, repeat mantras, write on my hands, and pretty much use every technique in the book. I’ve tried WILD, WBTB, MILD, FILD, ETC.

Dream signs aren’t helping like they should. It’s like I’m not noticing them in my dreams, even though I see them in my dream journal a thousand times. If I do notice them in my dreams, my brain just kinda blows it off.

I’ve tried aids like meditation music, binaural beats, isochronic tones, eating and not eating certain foods, vitamins, alarms and anything else I could find on this site that was legal and not drug like. (I haven’t tried those sleeping lucid dreaming masks, due to the fact that I’ve seen nothing but bad reviews.)

As for my sleep when I’m not trying to do a certain technique, I fall asleep and wake up at the same time every day. My room's completely dark and I use earplugs. I’ve tried changing it up and sleeping in light with no earplugs, which was a mess. I’ve even tried changing my sleep schedule. Don’t even get me started on afternoon naps…urgh.

I do remember a few months ago, I recognized I was dreaming because my hands looked different, but I woke myself up. I realize that was a control issues and I got too excited, but look at it from my point of view and how many years I waited for it. I haven’t had one since. (I know how to control my dreams, I just wasn't able to use it at that point.)

I'm not ready to give up, but I'm starting to feel hopeless and I know that's terrible and doesn't help. Maybe I’m trying to hard now? Could it possibly have something to do with the fact that I’m a very stressed out person with anxiety? (I’m not taking any medication for either of them so that wouldn’t be a cause for the lack of Lucid.)

There has to be a reason I’m having trouble, I just can’t find it. Any ideas? :D Thanks!

Lucid Dreaming | Can Urination Urges ruin your Lucidity?

So I had my second lucid!!! Except this time my lucid ended right away after i saw my hand missing fingers and then in my lucid i reached for a notebook and drew my hand.

I woke up and was disappointed. When i woke up it was like 12:59 at night. And i felt like i wanted to pee.

So i'm pretty sure this was why my lucid got ruined. I had a lucid before and it lasted long.

Lucid Dreaming | Big problems with motivation

I have had problems with actually feeling motivated to lucid dream my past 2-3 months, and although I have had temporary bursts of excitement (which have sometimes even resulted in instant lucid dreams) that interest dies away very quickly.

I know I really want to frequently experience lucid dreams, and the fact that I have been a member both here and on LD4All for a couple years and frequents a lot of lucid dreaming videos on YouTube proves that I am serious about it.

But for some reason I just cannot seem to "get" that excitement.

I can sometimes vividly pretend that I am dreaming during waking life and get those moments when I feel "wow... it would be so cool if this was a dream, with this vividness!", but I forget about it almost at once and then my excitement dies again. :?

The best way for me to rekindle my motivation seems to be watching lucid dreaming videos on YouTube, especially Tim Post's tutorial videos and the two "Lucid Dreaming: How To Control Your Dreams" videos - but that doesn't always work either, although it's good that it at least increases my enthusiasm.

Lucid Dreaming | why does ssild work?

I like this technique and it has actually helped me get lucid but can someone explain what it does? You just focus on your eyelids, your hearing, then your body and it shows amazing results, I just dont get why it helps.

Tape Measure VHF Yagi Antenna

tap measure yagi vhf antenna

Radio direction finding and fox hunting can be great fun and is a popular activity with amateur radio (ham radio) enthusiasts. These antennas are great and are not only good for finding transmitters but also will greatly increase directional distance performance including communicating with satellites and the international space station (ISS).

[jcoman] had a nephew who was interested in learning about amateur radio so [jcoman] figured building and using a cheap and portable 2 meter band VHF Yagi style beam antenna would be the perfect activity to captivate the young lad’s interest in the hobby.

His design is based on [Joe Leggio’s] (WB2HOL) design with some of his own calculated alterations. We have seen DIY Yagi antenna designs before but what makes this construction so interesting is that the elements come together using bits of cut metal tape measure sections. These tape measure sections allow the Yagi antenna, which is normally a large and cumbersome device, to be easily stowed in a vehicle or backpack. When the antenna is needed, the tape measure sections naturally unfold and function extremely well with a 7 dB directional gain and can be adjusted to get a 1:1 SWR at any desired 2 m frequency.

The other unique feature is that the antenna can be constructed for under $20 if you actually purchase the materials. The cost would be even less if you salvage an old tape measure. You might even have the PVC pipes, hose clamps and wire lying around making the construction nearly free.

We were quite surprised to find that such a popular antenna construction method using tape measure elements had not yet been featured on Hackaday. For completeness this is not the only DIY tape measure Yagi on Instructables so also check out [FN64's] 2 m band “Radio Direction Finding Antenna for VHF” and [manuka’s] 70 cm band “433 MHz tape measure UHF antenna” postings. The other Yagi antenna designs featured on Hackaday were “Building a Yagi Uda Antenna” and “Turning an Easter Egg Hunt into a Fox Hunt” but these designs were not so simple to construct nor as cleverly portable.

Lucid Dreaming | Gap between stimulus and response and becoming lucid

I was wondering if awareness of the gap between stimulus and response can achieve lucidity. It seems like becoming lucid is the ultimate gap between stimulus and response: An angry gorilla appears at your door, if you become lucid you can completely ignore the stimulus - the gorilla (if you choose to) and choose better things to do for the rest of the dream (the response).

I was looking for a point in my NLDs that could be called, "Most aware moment". I think that moment may be the gap between someone talking to you (asking a question in particular) and you answering. This is the most aware moment because you've heard a question, there is a pause for thought, and - like in real life - you use that moment to consider your answer (or other options).

Could the focus on that moment help becoming lucid? When you complete your DJ you could spot this moment and see how you used that delay - log what you though and how you answered. In WL you could become aware of the gap when someone talks to you and you could become more aware of your options - and aware that there is indeed a gap between stimulus and response; the aim is to carry this over into dreams.

Lucid Dreaming | Can anyone give me some tips on becoming lucid?

Alright so I have been trying to lucid dream for awhile now but have yet to become successful. I have tried all of the techniques multiple times and I even do multiple reality checks every day

I feel I have become close before but I have never crossed over into the feeling of being lucid in my dreams and a lot of my dreams should be major dream signs that HEY THIS IS A DREAM

the technique I try most is WILD but for some reason, I can lay completely still for anywhere between 1-3 hours, yet my body does not fall asleep. I stay completely awake and I do not move a single inch from the position I start in. I try to let my mind wander and stuff but it still doesnt seem to work.

I have tried eating and drinking a good amount of dairy products and cheese before sleeping and this does seem to improve my dream recall and overall vividness of my dreams but it has yet to help me become lucid.

Can anyone please provide me some advice? I would really love to start being able to lucid dream as it is a concept I find very interesting and fun.

Thank you in advance

Lucid Dreaming | How do you get lucid?

For some time now I’ve been try to LD. It’s been a bit of a hit and miss affair as I have not been following any exercises in anger. My first success was earlier in the year and very short lived and I became fully aware after a very short about of time – probably brought on by the excitement of it all. The next could of times lasted slightly longer and I've been able to maintain them for some time.

Until last night it was my belief that you entered lucidity from a deep sleep state but my recent experience suggests this is probably not the case for a lot of people. I entered lucidity for (what felt like maybe a minute) and then woke up. Without moving I attempted to drift back off to sleep and (what felt like) immediately getting lucidity which again lasted for (what felt like) a minute. I was able to get lucidity a few times this morning in this way. It felt like I was walking a tightrope though. I found it very difficult to maintain the lucid state and it was easy to either wake up entirely or fall into a normal dream state.

Do most people enter (and are able to control) the lucid state from point of initially falling asleep? Is this something that is worth working on and if so are there any good exercises I could follow?

Lucid Dreaming | Lucidity Finally!!!! Did Caffeine Possibly Help???

It's been 20 days since my last lucid dream. What propelled me to join this website was that lucid dream. Then I started my dream journal only two days after and been journaling every night even since. Tonight I finally had two lucids dreams!!!! I'm so happy!!! :panic: it's very possible that my second one was a W.I.L.D.

In the first dream I realized I was dreaming after my car's back bumper was about to hit a wall due to it being on neutral. The weird thing that occured to me is that it was taking too to long to hit the wall, even though the wall was only two feet away. :?

I did the reality check with my hand and noticed that my thumb was half there and the other half was fuzzy like when there is bad reception on a tv set. I also noticed another finger missing, I believe it was my index finger. I was so excited. I was finally lucid! I did not know what to do  but remembered reading something on this site about paying attention to your dream body so I put my hands on my chest and my legs and felt my body. After that I noticed my nephew's face, who was in the dream, changing into Mccauly Culkin's face. I felt this might mean the dream was destabilizing and that I might lose lucidity  so I try to stabilize it by moving around a bit and focusing on other things. I decided to focus my intentions on flying so I bent my knees and began to fly over a body of water. It felt like a body of water somewhere in Rome. I decided to try the nose pinch reality check so I went under water, although a bit hesitant and fearful, and did the reality check. It worked but it didn't provide as much clarity as the five fingers reality check. After that I flew back up and out of the water and continued flying. I noticed the whole time I was flying that the song, "Lady in Red" was playing. When I had gone underwater the volume decreased as it would when going underwater. I decided to look for someone I had a crush in the past. So when I started looking for him while flying and crying out his name...he never appeared. I kept trying and trying until I finally woke up with a splitting headache.

I went to the kitchen with my head pulsating with pain  and popped one excedrin pill. I told my sleepy and patient husband about my lucid dream  I wrote the dream down in my journal and then I went back to sleep... :bedtime:

The next time I started dreaming I noticed immediately I was dreaming. It was as if I had started the dream already aware even though I can't recall the transition from wakefulness to sleep so I'm not really sure this makes it a W.I.L.D. I can't remember too much about the dream but what I did remember I put it in my dream journal. I had woken up after that lucid as well but at this point the combination of my headache and sleepiness did not make it a priority to remember so I just jotted down some fragments in my journal.

Is it possible that the caffeine in the Excedrin helped me stay focus enough to have a second lucid dream or is it just the fact that I already had one lucid dream that night that made it easier to have another one right afterwards. I also had two cups of coffee in the day rather than my usual one cup of coffee so my caffeine intake was higher than usual that day but not enough to trigger insomnia.

Lucid Dreaming | Just discovered I was doing a good lucid technique all this time

I just discovered the technique i do has a name and that it is the easiest and most common to get lucid dream. And i got my first lucid some time ago from doing it.

It's called WBTB wake back to bed.

I did it because in laberge it said set alarms 4.5, 6 and 7.5 hours after sleep. And that's basically what i've been doing all this time.

But this is the first time i actually read about it and read about how to do it better.

like you have to stay up a while (20-60 minutes) when you wake up. i didn't know that. but usually i've had trouble going back to sleep( if you guys remember) but lately i've been having easier times goign back to sleep. Now i can go back to sleep easy.

But yea anyways, it's just funny. i was doing WBTB and i didn't know it. Well i'm not a good reader and i don't read everything perfectly so i guess i never payed attention to the name. and the fact that it's one of the easiest apparently.

Lucid Dreaming | Stablizing in the middle of a nightmare? And a couple of other questions.

I have always been able to remember my dreams and in great detail, but I never realized it was all a dream. I never knew about the whole phenomenon of lucid dreaming either. So I've known for a month now and had two experiences where I realize it is a dream. First time, it was easy and wonderful too, I realized I was dreaming when the entire place had a violet hue, even the leaves that were falling had a tinge of violet. I tried flying but fell out of the dream right then. I know now that I should've stabilized the dream. SO now I ask, how to stabilize during a nightmare? I was in a cab, I noticed the other cars slowly fading right outside the glass that is when I got a little startled and the driver looked back at me, he had no hands. I had adrenaline pumping but then I thought I'd just calm myself and go through the ceiling. But it was very hard calming myself with the driver in front of me like that. The ceiling hurt my head, obviously due to my inhibitions. Any tips on how to stabilize a nightmare?

Secondly, since I've learned about lucid dreaming I tried binaural beats and hypnosis for a day or two. Once during my binaural beat session, I have had this feeling in the middle of my forehead, as if I had a pulse there it was very strong and growing very heavy but felt good. Since that day, I've been able to bring out that feeling at will in the middle of my forehead. The day I had my first LD was the day I felt that heavy feeling, that too right before the LD, it was in the evening. So, is that because I've addled my brain? Or is the third eye really real? O_O

Lucid Dreaming | Becoming Aware Without Reality Checks

For some reason, all of my lucid dreams so far, have not been induced by reality checks. I've simply just become aware that I was dreaming and not needed to do a reality check. Granted my DEILDs and any other from of WILDs would probably not need an RC, but some have been DILDs and I've just suddenly realized I was dreaming. Is this a normal way to become lucid? Do you guys ever have these?

Lucid Dreaming | Trouble falling asleep during MILD?

Hello, I've been attempting the MILD technique every night before I go to sleep and after a WBTB, for about 15 to 20 minutes visualising a lucid dream and then repeating my mantra. But I find that this tends to keep me awake. I know my last thought before I go to sleep should be about lucid dreaming but I tend to stay awake as I think about this, and I eventually end up going to sleep normally. Any tips?

Automatic Antenna Tuner

Automatic Antenna Tuner

To get the best power transfer into an antenna, tuning is required. This process uses a load to match the transmission line to the antenna, which controls the standing wave ratio (SWR).

[RichV] built his own automatic antenna tuner. First, it measures the SWR of the line by using a tandem match coupler. This device allows the forward and reflected signals on the line to be extracted. They are buffered and fed into an Arduino for sampling. Using this data, the device can calculate the SWR. The RF signal is also divided and sampled to measure frequency.

To automate tuning, an Arduino switches a bank of capacitors and inductors in and out of the circuit. By varying the load, it can find the ideal matching for the given antenna and frequency. Once it does, the settings are stored in EEPROM so that they can be recalled later.

After the break, check out a video of the tuner clicking its relays and matching a load.

Lucid Dreaming | If Do Reality Check(hands)repeatedly all day long, Big chance will lucid??

If i were to spend a whole deal of time looking at my hands and reality checking all day long. can that lead to me doing the reality check in my dream more than if i just do the reality checks a few little times during the day?

Like doing it 15 times a day vs 1000 times a day.

Cause basically the way i got my first lucid dream was cause i spent like 1 month doing reality checks everyday. But i just did like few a day. I didnt really spend hours.

What if i spent hours doing reality checks, kind of like the Islam kids in Middle east go like crazy reading the koran over and over.

If i did that, would i have more chances of lucid?

I dont think i will do it crazily or hours..but maybe the times i do it are not enough so i should do more.

The Panhandle Rancher speaks….On Government and Responsibility

Lucid Dreaming | Lucid at last

I hope I'm not breaking etiquette by diving straight in, but I was so happy to have achieved lucidity that I wanted to share the experience and how I got there.

I've been vaguely interested in lucid dreaming for many years. Way back in the 1990s I considered purchasing a NovaDreamer but I never got that far. In recent weeks my interest began to grow again and I started reading around the subject.

I'll cut to the chase. I've been off work for a while, and I have been having very frequent dreams that I am back at work (something that is not currently possible). Every dream is different, and each time the actual setting looks nothing like where I actually work, though in the dream it all seems normal to me. A few days later I'll have another work dream, in another completely different setting. It mirrors a common theme that happens in my dreams, where I dream of people that I know. The images in the dream bear no relation whatsoever to the actual people, yet somehow I know exactly who they were supposed to be when I wake up.

I am blessed with excellent dream recall, and often wake having remembered several dreams from the previous night.

While searching for reliable dream signs it occurred to me that for some reason I never seem look at my feet in my dreams. It's an odd thing to notice, but they tend to play out as you would view them through a video camera. The camera never pans down.

I started taking time to glance at my feet from time to time during my normal day.

Two nights ago I had the work dream again, and this time it was unusually realistic and bore a substantial resemblance to where I actually work. The people were real people that I know. I didn't understand how I could be at work in my current situation so I questioned whether it was another dream. Look at your feet, I told myself.

I looked down. My feet were in a pair of very odd-looking yellow shoes, almost like a cartoon, and flapping up and down like a duck's feet. I knew immediately that I was dreaming.

I took control of the dream and managed just a few seconds of exhilarating lucidity before I woke up.

I don't know whether I got over-excited by finding myself lucid and ruined it. If it happens again (let's hope so) then I will try harder to stay calm and take it steady.

Lucid Dreaming | Recurring problem with alarm clock

Hey forums, I've been having a problem recently. Every night, I attempt to WILD by setting an alarm clock for 4:00 which is 5-6 hours after I go to sleep. The problem is that I don't hear it, but when I wake up the next morning, the alarm switch is in the off position. I have absolutely no memory of getting up in the night to turn the alarm off, and I am positive that I turned the switch to "on" the night before. I did not drink alcohol before bed. The only explanation I can come up with is that I am sleepwalking when i turn the alarm off, though I have no history of that. This has happened 3 times in a short timespan, and it's really annoying because I want to be able to at least start my wilds. Any advice would be appreciated.

Lucid Dreaming | Exploiting dream signs

Hi all !

I posted this message in "dream sign" section but maybe this larger section will allow more people to see it and then to respond.

I have successfully identified 2 dream signs which come very often in my dreams.

Trouble is that last night I had one of those 2 dream signs but couldn't exploit it to become lucidly aware.

I told myself that day that if I was dreaming about x and y that would mean that I'm dreaming. But once in the dream, when the dream sign occurs, I dont become lucidly aware.

HELP !

A/ How can I exploit dream signs so that next time I see them I can become lucid ?

B/ Once you aknowledge your dream signs within a dream, does it make you lucidly aware by itself or do you have to perform a RC to become lucid ? In short, what's the process ?

Thanks people !

Lucid Dreaming | "Everything is of the substance of dreams" technique?

I've been doing some research on "lucid living" techniques, things like ADA, 24/7 RCs, etc (sorry if not using "lucid living" 100% correctly), and I realized there is one of such techniques in EWOLD. I've read it several times but never payed much attention to it, I felt like LaBerge himself thought that technique was not going to be taking seriously by much readers, and didn't go too much into it. He says it comes from dream yoga, and you can have a look in chapter 3 "Waking up in the dream world", under "Power of resolution" for the full version. Here's only a summary:

1. Day practice:

During the day, “under all conditions” think continuously that “all things are of the substance of dreams” and resolve that you will realize their true nature.

2. Night practice:

At night, when about to go to sleep, “firmly resolve” that you will comprehend the dream state — that is, realize that it is not real, but a dream.

I know a lot of people has tried things like ADA, but my question is: Do you know if anyone has tried this, and with what results? Do you think this technique would really be effective?

Lucid Dreaming | Help with ADA

I have been practicing ADA for a good few weeks now. Right when I think that i've got the hang of it, I don't. I sometimes manage to keep awareness on what I'm doing for like 10 minutes but then I drift off with my brain being worn out. It's the challenge of focusing on EVERYTHING that you're doing that's very difficult with me.

Would there be any...easier way to practice ADA? Right now I'm dedicated to lucid dreaming but this is really difficult. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A few YouTube video’s

Lucid Dreaming | Forcing yourself to do RC in a dream ?

SO i thought of this : When we are dreaming, we are like in stand by mode with our conscious. So when we dream, we don't really notice it. But what if we somehow try to force ourselves in a dream to RC and become lucid ?

Yesterday i went to bed with this idea and i got pretty good results. It may be a coincidence, but i became semi-lucid. It was like in a gap of subconscious and conscious lucid dream. I felt the surfaces and I even questioned if it's not reality. When i tried to stabilize the dream, i rubbed my hands and they felt very numb.

So i usually don't get anything like this, but i'll try this tonight again. What do you think?

P.S Also, can anyone drop the link of the thread about levels of lucidity ?

Lucid Dreaming | My 3 week all day awareness experiment results!

hello guys, :)

I just want to point out how much ADA has helped me so far. I've started my ADA experiment 3 weeks ago and posting the results so far here now. I've been doing ADA for 3 weeks + Reality checks. ADA was new for me, and I wanted to check it out if it works well.

in the first week, there wasn't really big changes. There were changes, but not really decisive. I sometimes noticed strange things, but REALLY did not questioned myself in the dream about it.

in the second week, I noticed my more critical look on my dreams. I started to question more things in my dreams. If I saw someone without shoes on, I questioned myself if it was strange. I noticed more and more strange things in dreams.

at the end of the second week, I noticed that in every dream, i was being critic at EVERYTHING. Sometimes i even linked these strange things to myself dreaming and doing a RC, but waking up immediately.. in waking life, it becomes more easy to keep my awareness high and search for things out of the ordinary.

the third week: My dreams become very vived at this point, because of the high awareness in every dream. I very often link strange things to a dream state with a RC following, but keep waking up very immediately. In waking life, I notice a lot of strange things aswell without really looking for them. It starts to go more automatically.

the last days of the third week:

I've came to the point where I realize that im dreaming every night at least once. I still have the problem that I wake up immediately after my RC. Sometimes my RC doesnt even say im dreaming, but I KNOW that im dreaming, because of my awareness, but still failing the RC's like the nose pinch loool. Then I think im not dreaming and lose the dream or something..

I REALLY recommend ADA to you all. All my dreams became so vivid and lifelike. It has become way more easy to spot out strange things in a dream AND in waking life.

ADA is hard in the beginning. You must focus on things you're not used to to focus on. small details. looking for things out of the ordinary. It's hard, but it becomes a part of your system after some time. It becomes fun to see more and more strange things in waking life and in your dreams. Every night, i enjoy high quality movies now :). I love ADA and I will keep doing this technique to master it, to have every single dream lucid..! =)

I kinda thing this could be a life changing process in my opinion. I've had days where i wanted to quit seeing everything, but my brain wouldn't let me. My lifestyle has changed , but the good way. It's going to take effort to quit ADA, just like it took effort to start with it.. ;)
