Lucid Dreaming | Houston, the Eagle has landed!

Just awoke from my first LD! Yay!!

As far as LDs go it was nothing spectacular in and of itself, except for the fact I was aware I was dreaming! :D

The interesting thing is I wasn't even really focused in LDing tonight. I was really working on dream recall. I've been recalling more and more dreams and in greater detail lately. Over the past several nights I've recalled 8 one night and 7 another. So tonight I wanted to leverage that and used my cell phone alarm to periodically wake me based on the timings I've gathered from analyzing the past 6 weeks of DJing.

So the previous REM cycle I thought I awoke with a short dream recalled. For some reason I decided I'd wait for the alarm to go off in another few minutes and record it, however when the alarm did go off that's all I recalled. Sitting up in bed something struck me as odd. I don't remember looking at either my cell phone or bedside clock to ascertain the time, so how could I know it was almost time for the alarm to go off? Anyway I recorded that in my DJ, reset my cell phone alarm and went back to bed. I did have the thought that was a FA and some amount of waking awareness had seeped into that dream. Damn, I should have done a RC. Oh well.

So I go back to sleep and when I wake up again, I'm in my bed in my childhood home. I had some vague recall of the earlier episode, but I wasn't aware I shouldn't be waking up in a bed I haven't slept in over 40 years! So I do a hand RC and something's not right. My left hand doesn't have enough fingers, so I count again. Now it has 7? I look closer and one finger is really long and two others are kind of flat. Snap, I'm, dreaming!

The room is dark. I get up and start wandering around. No one else is around. Something tells me to touch some things. The bed, a wall, bend over and feel the floor. I walk into the hallway and look out a window. It's dark outside and the streetlights are on. I walk down the hall and into another bedroom that was my uncle's. I'm looking around and I get the idea I'm going to summon a childhood friend. I tried a few times but to no avail. The End.

All in all, it lasted about 2 or 3 minutes. The funny thing is when I first woke up it was like, okay, had a dream. I turn on the light, prop both pillows behind my head and grab my DJ to record. I'm writing all this down and it still hasn't occurred to me it was a LD, but then wait... I did a hand check RC and it failed! I touched stuff to stabilize. I tried to summon a DC. Heck, I just had my first LD!

Heheh, I'm sitting here typing absolutely thrilled! Not sure if I can go back to sleep. :happyme:

So it's a beginning and I can see the potential. And so it begins...

By the way, thanks to all the folks who put in the work to make this site what it is! The admins, moderators, guides, instructors and all the folks, both experienced LDers and not so experienced who share their time and knowledge with others wanting to learn about LDing! :thanks:
