Lucid Dreaming | Practicing illusory body for 30 days
For a more in-depth explanation, please see Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche's description in Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep, as well as this description by B. Alan Wallace: The Daytime Practices of Dream Yoga - Reality Sandwich
During this time I will still be doing reality checks, and also other LD related practices, so it's not exactly a controlled experiment. I look forward to sharing this with you all. I will try to keep this page updated on a weekly basis.

Lucid Dreaming | DILD Awareness Technique - Where And Why - My Concept/Idea For Technique
I've been recently thinking about going into DILD Techniques. But the stuff which discouraged me to do it were reality checks and lenghty awareness techniques. I don't like to do too frequently reality checks and all day awareness is pain too. I've been brainstorming while taking shower and i've jumped onto some good idea :-P
Where And Why Awareness Technique
It would base on few things
1. Where Am I?
2. Why Am I Here?
3. If i'm not sure of one of above questions then do the reality check or any other thingy to confirm whether i'm dreaming or not
4. Frequency (How frequent would be awareness applied (Every 15 mins, every 30, every 50 etc...))
Example:
I've decided to perform WWA Technique every around twenty minutes and the time has come to do so. I'm starting to perform the technique ? I manage to recall that i'm in my local school at second floor. Because i'm schoolboy and mom drived me here with car...
Example 2:
It's time to perform technique again... I'm in my house in my room. Because i live here and i've been drived back by parent from school few hours ago here...
From what i know/heard/experienced memories in dream are quite fuzzy and there's quite high chance that you won't be able to remember such stuff which acknowleding may trigger lucidity. If you manage to successfuly do awareness test and acknowledge that you might be dreaming there are three ways you end up. Depending how convinced you are that you are dreaming:
- If your not so convinced then you either test reality, memory or do reality check
- If your convinced that your dreaming yet want to confirm it you do same as above
- If your quite sure that your dreaming since you noticed weird stuff around you just due to triggering waking awareness then oh well enjoy lucid i say :D
This is my concept of techinque
What do you people think of it?
I myself think that it might give some fancy lucids since it seems to be easy and fast to perform. Those questions tbh seem to take no longer than 5 secs with 10 sec as max. And as a last note you don't need to ask yourself those questions over over you may just form answers for them while still knowing why your doing it and what to do if you don't know answers (Reality Test)
- Thanks

The Chromecast and catching up on YouTube
This past weekend I caught up on many Youtube video I have missed over the past couple months. One of the things I use to make the entire experience more enjoyable is a Chromecast. The Chomecast is a small device that plugs into the TV’s HDMI port and communicates with your computer to “broadcast” YouTube video’s directly on the TV.
Honestly – the Chromecast makes watching the video’s much better. I have a 52″ wall-mounted TV and sitting in the comfort of my living room watching video’s covering an assortment of topics makes for a great afternoon. Beyond the bigger picture the sound is better than on y laptop as well.
A few of my favorite YouTube Channels:
- SouthernPrepper1 – down to earth preparedness advice from a real Patriot. I especially enjoy his “Scenario” video’s.
- Hickok45 – I love watching this guys video’s. He covers all kinds of guns and gun-related topics. I can only hope some day to be as good of shot as Hickok.
- BiblesandBarbells – Another down to earth channel with some religion and fitness thrown in.
- NutnFancy – You either love him or hate him. I love this guy. Excellent gun reviews and also covers preparedness topics every so often. His philosophy video’s are a must watch by EVERYONE.
- Dr Bones and Nurse Amy – Medical preparedness advice second to none.
- Patriot Nurse – another source of medical preparedness information as well as general preparedness.
- Military Arms Channel – probably my favorite gun channel. Concise, informative, and thorough.
Have a favorite? Bet it would be better on a big screen.

Question: What is your biggest preparedness need?
Would appreciate as many people as possible answering this question:
What is your biggest preparedness need?
More specifically when you look at your preps – tangible, material items as well as skills – what are you most lacking? Again – another way of looking at this is what do you feel you need to improve the most between now and the “event”?
Looking forward to your response.

Lucid Dreaming | Erin Pavlina method...
has anyone tried Erin Pavlina method for getting LD? how is it supposed to work?
she said we need to keep our eyes open when falling sleep. if needed, we can blink when we want. but we should not allow our eye-lids to be closed until we enter to the dream. it may take many weeks to master in it.
my question= i have tried this method for 1 week some months ago and it made my eyes too dry and i couldn't keep them open. how to over-come this? also, how is it possible to enter the dream while our eyes are open?
she is one of the LD gurus in the world so her words are not stupid as you may have already thought.
thanks!

Lucid Dreaming | Subliminal Messages
In the dream I was working on raising my awareness for the purpose of lucidity while dreaming. I had mounted a small light on the neighbor's garage that would flash and only I could see it. Somehow it was supposed to program my mind to become aware in a dream. Hah!
The problem in the dream was my neighbor was doing some work in his yard and kept blocking my view of it, no matter what window I looked out. Now it seems I have to set some kind of intention to recognize this as a sign and initiate a RC.
Just curious if anyone else has tried using this kind of app and if it produced any results.

Lucid Dreaming | Reality checks - only when it's "too late"?
Essentially, I don't do RCs a lot. Heck, I barely do them in my waking life anymore, due to a massive dry spell where I haven't even thought about lucid dreams. Which isn't great, because obviously this is one of the key factors of becoming lucid.
But my question is - are conscious reality checks really any better than just being aware? It sounds odd....but for someone who has very little experience in lucid dreaming, I have a weird trend when it comes to performing reality checks. I only seem to perform them retrospectively - I'm always 100% aware of what the outcome will be after doing a reality check whether in the waking world or in a dream. For example, I feel silly doing them in real life because "this is obviously not a dream", but when I'm dreaming often something just clicks in my brain and, rather than performing the reality check to determine if I'm dreaming, it's more of a "awesome this must be a dream, my next reality check will prove it" moment.
It makes me wonder - if I never did any reality checks at all would I still be able to become lucid? Am I doing something inherently wrong by deciding the outcome before the test is done? It feels like less of a lucid trigger and more of a test to ensure I won't make a mistake in my reasoning and end off trying to fly off a bridge in waking life cause I think it's a dream
Any thoughts? Anyone else have this?

Lucid Dreaming | Why do I always have short lucids?
Just a couple minutes ago, after a series of complex dreams involving a bunch of my old friends/lucid dreaming buddies from the past, I found myself in a FA of sorts. I was able to fully recognize this certain dream state, and proceeded to walk out my front door and started to fly. The flying is always very uncontrollable, I find myself usually doing the running man in order to just stay in the air, sort of like tricking my mind into thinking I know what I'm doing. Ended up landing in this big field of trees and started to run. However, whenever I succeed in further stabilizing myself like this, I start to get really nervous that I won't be able to maintain it. My mind pretty much knows it won't last for long and I end up waking myself up for no reason.

Morse Code RF Transmitter from a Micro’s Clock Output
If you’re looking for a simple way to make an RF transmitter, check out [Tomasz]’s Morse code transmitter. His design uses nothing more than a microcontroller and a 16MHz crystal to transmit CW Morse code on 96MHz. We’ve seen some similar designs that work at lower frequencies, but transmitting up at 96MHz is pretty impressive.
[Tomasz] used an STM32L microcontroller for this project, which isn’t specced to run up at the high frequencies he wanted to transmit at. To get around this, [Tomasz] wired a 16Mhz oscillator up to microcontroller’s clock input. The clock input is run into the micro’s PLL which is capable of generating high frequencies. He mentions that you can use the internal oscillator instead of a crystal, but it has a ton of phase noise and splatters all over the spectrum.
[Tomasz] chose to start transmitting at 96MHz, which can be picked up by a standard FM radio. To generate this frequency, he set the PLL to multiply the 16MHz crystal up to 192MHz followed by a clock divide of 2 which brings it down to 96MHz. The microcontroller’s CPU runs on the 16MHz crystal input before it goes into the PLL. Next [Tomasz] enabled the MCO clock output pin which routes the 96MHz signal to the outside world.
Transmitting CW is pretty simple; it just involves turning a fixed-frequency transmitter on and off. [Tomasz] wrote a function that enables and disables the MCO output pin. This has the effect of keying any Morse code string you throw at it. Check out the video after the break to see the transmitter in action.

Lucid Dreaming | All desperate ones, try this easy trick!
Me and my girlfriend started to practice lucid dreaming something like 3 months ago. I got my first ld, and ones after it fairly easy and quickly but she on the other hand, despite the fact that she tried harder then me, never got a lucid till tonight. Except for this one occasion i didn't have a chance to futher test my theory, but as for now it worked 100% :D I came to a conclusion that it should be easy to attain lucidity if you could associate it with a strong emotion, becouse strong emotions that we had during the day are often reflected during dreaming. So as she was laying in bed ready to go to sleep, i went out of the room and seconds after i entered the room violently and loudly scaring the .... out of her screaming "it's a dream!", and even thought she was very scared she understood what it was for and did RT, even thought she wasn't doing it all day. So this night after she saw a zombie elder women :D, she did RT and became lucid. Her lucidity in this dream was like 6/10 but it was very long even thought it was her first :) So i think if you have someone to try it out with and he or she is good at scaring, you should give it a try. I think it's very important to get VERY scared and it should happen not long before sleep, and of course person scaring you has to scream "it's a dream" and it woulkd be good if you did RT. If anyone finds it helpful, let me know, good luck and don't try this with a weak heart, don't wanna have a heart attack :D

Is it normal to have dreams this vivid? They don't happen often, but they freak me out nonetheless. I had one previous to this that I literally kept telling myself to wake up because what was happening on my ceiling (lightning streaking across) was so scary to me. Both dreams have taken place in my old bed along with being in my current room.

Lucid Dreaming | Houston, the Eagle has landed!
As far as LDs go it was nothing spectacular in and of itself, except for the fact I was aware I was dreaming! :D
The interesting thing is I wasn't even really focused in LDing tonight. I was really working on dream recall. I've been recalling more and more dreams and in greater detail lately. Over the past several nights I've recalled 8 one night and 7 another. So tonight I wanted to leverage that and used my cell phone alarm to periodically wake me based on the timings I've gathered from analyzing the past 6 weeks of DJing.
So the previous REM cycle I thought I awoke with a short dream recalled. For some reason I decided I'd wait for the alarm to go off in another few minutes and record it, however when the alarm did go off that's all I recalled. Sitting up in bed something struck me as odd. I don't remember looking at either my cell phone or bedside clock to ascertain the time, so how could I know it was almost time for the alarm to go off? Anyway I recorded that in my DJ, reset my cell phone alarm and went back to bed. I did have the thought that was a FA and some amount of waking awareness had seeped into that dream. Damn, I should have done a RC. Oh well.
So I go back to sleep and when I wake up again, I'm in my bed in my childhood home. I had some vague recall of the earlier episode, but I wasn't aware I shouldn't be waking up in a bed I haven't slept in over 40 years! So I do a hand RC and something's not right. My left hand doesn't have enough fingers, so I count again. Now it has 7? I look closer and one finger is really long and two others are kind of flat. Snap, I'm, dreaming!
The room is dark. I get up and start wandering around. No one else is around. Something tells me to touch some things. The bed, a wall, bend over and feel the floor. I walk into the hallway and look out a window. It's dark outside and the streetlights are on. I walk down the hall and into another bedroom that was my uncle's. I'm looking around and I get the idea I'm going to summon a childhood friend. I tried a few times but to no avail. The End.
All in all, it lasted about 2 or 3 minutes. The funny thing is when I first woke up it was like, okay, had a dream. I turn on the light, prop both pillows behind my head and grab my DJ to record. I'm writing all this down and it still hasn't occurred to me it was a LD, but then wait... I did a hand check RC and it failed! I touched stuff to stabilize. I tried to summon a DC. Heck, I just had my first LD!
Heheh, I'm sitting here typing absolutely thrilled! Not sure if I can go back to sleep. :happyme:
So it's a beginning and I can see the potential. And so it begins...
By the way, thanks to all the folks who put in the work to make this site what it is! The admins, moderators, guides, instructors and all the folks, both experienced LDers and not so experienced who share their time and knowledge with others wanting to learn about LDing! :thanks:

Lucid Dreaming | Daily Awareness Practice
The foundation is to simply be mindful/aware as often as possible, with the goal of gradual improvement. This is nothing new and the same concept embodied in all methods I've read here for increasing awareness. However when I become aware my awareness has drifted, I use that as a trigger to ask "Am I dreaming?". I then gather my awareness and do an assessment of my reality, using all available sensory input. I then do a RC. It's much like the exercise of shifting back to breath during meditation when breath is no longer evident.
At its heart is the recognition of diminished awareness, which is a quality/state of a NLD. So the mind has wandered, the subconscious has redirected my awareness away from the task at hand and into some narrative of past, future, plans, emotions, etc... Some 'Story of Me', which is really a waking dream, and is not grounded in the Here & Now. Or perhaps I am dreaming...
For me it also feels like a much more organic and less contrived way to initiate a RC. My hope is this will eventually carry over into the dream realm where I get an inkling I'm not being mindful, leading to a marshaling of awareness followed by a question and assessment of my current state and concluded with a RC to verify my state.
Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Lucid Dreaming | Im starting to get desperate!
A little background though, I remember 2 dreams each night on average (I think that should be good enough, right?) And I've had somewhat lucid experiences before (i think) but clearly im aiming for a lot more. I'm just as interested in my normal dreams than lucid ones just because the plots are so interesting and immersive, I could legit think about one of these dreams all day replaying in my head over and over. Heres my problem though; MILD, FILD and especially WILD haven't worked for me up to this point.
I held out a lot of hope for FILD especially but i feel like i continually mess it up... Whenever i wake up i just can't sit still and i always clear my throat and throw myself off course. I'm not really sure exactly what it is im looking for but a lucid dream is definitely one of them... any help is welcome... im sorta desperate for it at this point lol:thanks:

Lucid Dreaming | Lucid Waking Life
I have had many lucid dreams in the past and I, like many of you, am aware waking life is the same as dream.
I have tried many methods to become lucid in waking life (within boundaries of waking safety) but the results have been weaker than I would hope.
I think it is because in other dreams where I become lucid I tell myself I will wake up in another location but with this dream of waking life becoming lucid would mean there is no place to wake up to.
Here are some things I do to attain waking lucidity:
-State checks (from crazy like icebolts from my eyes to light switch)
-Self recorded guided meditation for lucidity
-Awareness training
-I carry a dream totem bracelet as a reminder
-Vision Board
-Write predictions for the day/month/years and check off those that come true
-Read lucidity articles/books
-Books on reality creation/law of attraction
What are some good ways you have come across to be lucid in waking life?
Extra note: I leave my guided meditation playing in my home 24/7 and plan to do so for a month as a way of mental reprogramming. It has only been 10 days so 20 more to go

Lucid Dreaming | A prayer for Lucid Dreaming
A method for praying for Lucid Dreaming:
So, a prayer right ? Let's compose a personal prayer that can convey some meaningful and positive midset, i would like something close to « This moment is truly magic, i could well be dreaming now. I wish i can become lucid at all times...». You can make your own personal prayer, including goals for instance
Second, a tool to remind to pray and to estimate the progress: what if one used the 10 hand fingers for a proxy of a prayer colar :D ? One could pray while touching one finger and remember the associated finger, using one different finger for each prayer session, aiming to do, for instance, something like 10 prayer sessions along the day, and maybe using it to fall asleep too or for a WILD
So, just a thought. I am not a praying person (since my kid times), but this could be some fun :)

Lucid Dreaming | List variations to gravity induced LD technique
The critical question I'm referring to would be a yes or no question referring to something simple that's very prevalent both in waking life and the dream world, yet is very different in the dream world than it is in waking life. Being aware of the answer to this question would act as a reality check. Being constantly aware would act as a constant reality check.
So for example, a critical question would be "Does gravity feel right?" If the answer is yes, you're not dreaming. If it's no, you are dreaming.
I think if we thought of more critical questions to ask, this effective technique might be approachable to a wider audience. As in, someone like me who's interested in this technique but isn't sure if gravity feels right or not.
Can you think of anymore critical questions? I'll list them here as they're suggested:

Lucid Dreaming | HELP! Improving prospective memory for MILD. Am I cheating?
i'm not very good at it, but i am good at keeping something in mind.
so what i've done to make it "work" is reduce the list to an easily remembered mantra and periodically internally chant it during the day.
so if the list was:
state test when you:
1. hear a dog bark
2. someone says your name
3. you see your reflection
4. you feel water
i will say "bark, name, mirror, wet" repeatedly throughout the day. doing this i've managed to get all or most of the targets every day.
but not much improvement in my MILD ability.
is this cheating?
would the proper way be to simply read the list, internalize it once and the go about my day? and deliberately avoid repeating the list to myself?
i'm puzzled because this is how i remember anything: i run over it periodically. if i tried to go to the grocery store without internally chanting "lettuce, eggs, rice, apples" a few times i imagine i would come out with milk, potatoes and oranges.
but is that exactly it? go into the grocery store and just wander around counting on your memory to click in and get the right stuff?

Lucid Dreaming | I don't know why I can't attain Lucidity.
I really need some help, because I can't find the reason why the Lucid Dreams seem to run away from me.
I have been practicing Lucid Dreaming for around 3.5 years, that includes DILD and around 2 years ago I tried WILD + WBTB, but that was a failure.
I just do the basic DILD (you know, genuinly asking myself if I am dreaming or awake, checking my surroundings for dream signs, doing some RC, doing mantra) and I do that a few times a day, it is a habit since I came across LD-ing.
I added a technique called SRM around a week ago (It might help, we will see). I have a dream journal, my dream recall is ok I think, although it changes from time to time, sometimes I can roughly remember one dream per week, but most of the time I can remember one dream per night (even though not always fully complete).
The problem with all this is, that in these 3.5 years, I had only 3 Lucid Dreams total. In these years, I always read about LD-ing, Dream induction, Dream experiences and similar stuff on the internet. Most of the people have Lucid Dreams after about a month or two after they start to practice (at least thats what I read). So then I thought about that and was confused: "I have been doing that for about a year now and still no Lucid Dream. Maybe I need just more time and maybe I'm just unlucky". I thought to myself after I read experiences of other people. So being the patient creature that I am, I just kept on practicing. I admit there were a few weeks where I didn't even think about LD-ing, but I always tried to be motivated enough so I kept on practicing (I'm even practicing right now, while writing this post ;) )
But now I realized, that time just can't be the thing that hinders me from achieving a steady stream of Lucid Dreams (or at least more LDs than one per year). I always thought, that I was too impatient and that I need to practice a few months more. But I found posts on the internet (on this site too) where some people seem to give up after a few months. Thats understandable of course, I don't mean to offend anyone's patience skills. But after 3.5 years you do lose motivation, trust me. In this time I always motivated myself to carry on, keep on practicing, "Soon they will come", I always thought, even though life isn't always easy for me.
Thats why not so long ago I joined these forums, hoping that I can finally raise my LD-rate, if someone is willing to help me.
Don't know what else to say... eat Vegetables, be nice to others, don't abuse animals or little children and so on...

Lucid Dreaming | CHALLENGE: Post instructions for a novice to have lucid dreams in five or less sentences
Record your dreams in a journal every morning after waking up 90 minutes earlier than you intend to get up for the day.
Count yourself back to sleep saying in your mind "1, im dreaming, 2 im dreaming, 3.... etc." Until you fall asleep.
Do 5-10 reality checks per day (ask yourself "am i dreaming? Then try to read small text, look away, then try to read it again, if you're dreaming the text will become incomprehensible.)
End example.
It needs to be something someone who knows nothing about lucid dreaming could figure out without doing a bunch of research. So abbreviations like MILD and WILD are out. Any esoteric terminology must be explained.
These can be tested and refined. I know a few people who are interested in lucid dreaming but do not want to read a book or swim through a sea of info. I'll give each one of them one only of the top two or three we decide is the best (one method per person) and see what happens.
Naturally whomever else wants to test them would be fantastic! As many results as possible is best. Lets see what we can do!

Lucid Dreaming | Lucid Dreaming Technique That is Less Demanding?
what is the easiest least demanding technique?
something that is simple and doesn't take much effort so that one could do it the rest of his/her life indefinitely and have a lucid dream like once a week or so?
at length:
for example a full on yoga course requires a lot of things like different poses, meditation techniques, reading, visualizations, etc. these things are great if you have the time but will you always have the time? who knows. most don't. so to reduce this you could just do sitting meditation every day. you could safely decide that you will do this for the rest of your life. whereas you cannot be certain you will always have the time to do all the things mentioned above.
for lucid dreaming it's the same; there's a ton of stuff to do, journaling, visualizations, daily exercises, reading, planning, goal setting, etc.
so what's something simple and easy enough that one could safely say they could do it for the rest of their life?
my problem is i always read exploring the world of lucid dreaming, visit dreamviews, mess around with a bunch of ideas and techniques, set alarms and wake up several times a night to journal and try techniques, get somewhat good at lucid dreaming, but then responsibilities pop up and i don't have as much time and energy to devote to it, i slack off and finally quit entirely. like it's all or nothing. but i want to always be a lucid dreamer! what can i do?
i'm SOOOO far from being an expert on this topic so this is just a silly example to show what i'm thinking, something like:
five reality checks a day and wake up 90 minutes earlier than normal every day with an alarm, journal and then WILD back to sleep.
that would be super low impact and not at all demanding. if that would work to give me a lucid dream a week or so i could feasibly do that for the rest of my life.
ideas?

I agree with standardizing in things. It keeps things simple and efficient. Batteries are certainly an example of this. 90% of all my flashlights use AA alkaline batteries. The others? CR123 Lithiums and a couple AAA tubes.

I am constantly pulled between being an isolationist and believing we should secure our borders and just be self-sufficient, and the need to go eliminate certain threats and injustices that go on in the world.

I often use Melatonin as a sleep aid. If you have a hard time like me sleeping at night it is an effective, natural, and safe method to get a deeper sleep. I never wake up groggy like if I take Tylenol PM or something like that. Just an FYI.

Many relatives of the missing flight MH370 believe the passengers are still alive. Wishful thinking and if I was in their shoes I would try to have hope. Unfortunately they are sitting at the bottom of the ocean.

Shelving is expensive. Wanting to add some in my garage for some food storage and needing heavy duty due to the weight. I have several of the wire shelves that work great but seems I got a good deal on them years ago because now they are upwards of $100.

Been thinking of building a stockpile of food for my dogs. Many may poke fun but these dogs ARE my family. I generally buy Rachel Ray Grain-free dry food and they are packed in a very strong and thick bag. Not sure if it is Mylar or not. Most logical long term would be canned food.

Cost of beef has really gone up over the past year. Cube steak – which I have always felt was a bottom dweller in the beef world – is selling ON SALE for $6.19 a pound. I remember when is was less than $3.00/pound.

Lucid Dreaming | Resistance to Reality-Checking
Is it just me or sometimes, when we remember to reality check, there´s some kind of mindset like « Oh, i will do it later, i am too busy now! » specially if your RC routine involves aditional steps like planning and visualizing future goals, visualizing everything as a dream, and so on...
This seems like a barrier to overcome, specially for me, to understand that « No, now it's time to RC, i must honor it, let's do my best!»
Don´t let yourself be dragged by lazziness - instead use it as a way to remember to overcome nonlucid habits
Just a random thought !

Lucid Dreaming | Hand Flex WBTB for those who have trouble sleeping
Here is a simple method to gain the benefit of WBTB with out risking this problem.
How you trigger yourself to wake does not matter. A quiet alarm or when you have got up to pee are both reasonable methods. Try not to wake yourself any more than needed, just enough to turn off the alarm or use the bath room. Lay in bed having barely woke yourself. Make a fist and relax it, repeat this about 12 times or more up to perhaps 30 times. While doing this relax the rest of your body just as if you were trying to sleep. Do not make the fist very tight; you are just flexing the hand not squeezing.
Now try your WILD or MILD. Short and simple, but often enough of a WBTB to work. You can almost drift off while doing this, but it will keep ou just aware enough for just long enough to get the benifit of WBTB.
