Recent fitness gains….

Over the last several weeks I have made some strides working out. Fitness is an aspect of preparedness not often discussed – unless you are a frequent visitor to Ryan’s site.

Started getting up and running in the morning. Not long distance – about a mile. Really gets the metabolism going. I continue to do Crossfit and I coach a Cardio HIIT class on Tuesday nights. I have been feeling like lifting heavy so that’s what I have been doing.

Bench press – 280 for 1 rep. Front squat – 245 for 1 rep. For whatever reason I like front squats more than back. Back squat 265 for 1 rep. Deadlift – 365 for 1 rep. Clean – 1 rep of 185…..barely.

Ball Slams!!!!

I find as I get older working out is getting more and more important. Not necessarily always weightlifting or Crossfit but ANYTHING – running, walking, biking, HIIT, etc.

Lucid Dreaming | Varying your Mantra?

So I was curious, In MILD, the point is to preform verbal (or sometimes written or mental) affirmation that you will lucid dream tonight, and the purpose is to get the idea to stick subconsciously? And the generally accepted idea is that you simply repeat the same phrase over and over again, and that the longer that you can stick to that one mantra, the better.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

I know when I am dreaming.

It's easy for me to do that for a very, very long time. Because I can just copy and paste it. In the same way, when I spend half an hour auto-suggesting that phrase in during my commute, I will start up with autosuggestion thinking about it, but very quickly, I find myself saying it without giving any thought to what it actually means. So it's pointless and I might as well listen to music or daydream about something else.

Now you could make the argument that the purpose of MILD is to get your Mantra stuck in your head when you are falling asleep. But this doesn't work for everybody. Either they keep themselves up half the night or end up drifting off on other thoughts and becoming frustrated by their inability to focus. And of course you have the issue of your brain simply repeating the phrase on 'auto pilot' without thinking about what it really means.

I personally think that varying your mnemonics is more effective. It forces you to put more thought into it.

I know when I am dreaming.

My dreams are clear.

I always remember my dreams.

I am good at lucid dreaming.

My dreams are congruent.

I will reality check when I see a dream sign.

I will remember my dream goals.

My lucid dreams last a long time.

If I am in outer space, then I am dreaming.

If I am on a beach, then I am dreaming.

If I am at high school, then I am dreaming.

I am in control of my dreams.

If I see my dream guide, then I am dreaming.

If I see a tsunami, then I am dreaming.

My dream goal is to bend all four elements.

I lucid dream every night.

This took me about five minutes to type out, and took a lot more thought. In a way, I try to think of everything that I should focus on. Recall, Clarity, Becoming lucid, and what I want to do when I become lucid. It helps to keep the mind fresh and focused while you focus on your mantra.

Better yet, if you want to repeat something like this, then more power to you. You're going to have to put much more thought into what you are saying if your mantra is more complex. Same goes for writing it or mental affirmation. And the way I see it, It's the thought that counts, especially in lucid dreaming.

So... Thoughts?

Lucid Dreaming | Scriptural quotes on basic self awareness and lucidity

POST UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I hope these quotes, while unavoidably directing the reader to spiritual/religious terminology, will inspire one to build confidence, or even faith and devotion, on the practice of simplicity ( in the sense that our life is unnecessarily complicated)

Quote:

The degree to which one becomes familiar with the practice can be measured by the extent of one's control over the dream state, recognizing one's dreams to be dreams while still dreaming. Through practice, day by day one overcomes attachments and so sensations of pleasure and pain no longer condition the individual. One finds oneself in a state of integration which is in no way clothed in conceptions and judgments (ma gos mnyam-nyid ngang). Because primal awareness is present, all appearances arise as friends who can help one on the path. In fact, everything encountered along the path can now be something utilized to help develop one's practice. Therefore, one can interrupt the continuity of illusory visions ('khrul-pa'i rgyun chad) and one finds oneself in the state of the dharmatii, the real condition of existence.

Norbu Rinpoche, The cycle of day and night

Quote:

When one practices the essence of this yoga both day and night, the whole of our dimension of life enters into contemplation. Becoming familiar with the practice, our passions will arise on the path (as something useful to us). Certainly we will attain the full measure of accomplishing the benefit of beings, whose numbers are equal to the vastness of the sky, because of realizing the three dimensions of our existence. (44) The measure of our familiarity (with this practice is the degree to which we are able to) recognize our dreams to be dreams while we are still asleep. Since attachments to sensations of pleasure and pain (will be overcome day by day), we find ourselves in a state of integration, in no way clothed (in concepts or judgments). Because primal awareness is present, all appearances arise as friends (who can help us on the path). The continuity of illusion is thus interrupted and we find ourselves in the presence of the state of the real condition of existence. (45) Since the practitioner of Atiyoga, throughout both the day and the night, remains without moving from this state of the real condition of existence, it is said that he or she may realize Buddhahood even in the instant between two breaths. So it was said by that great being Garab Dorje.

Quote:

The Essence of Wakefulness - A Method in Sustaining the Nature of Awareness

Homage to the glorious Primordial Protector.

When sustaining the nature of awareness, the three stages of recognizing, training and attaining stability will gradually occur.

First of all, scrutinize the naked and natural face of awareness by means of your master's oral instructions until you see it free from assumptions.

Having resolved it with certainty, it is essential that you simply sustain the nature of just that.

It is not enough just to recognize it, you must perfect the training in the following way:

You may already have recognized the face of awareness, but unless you rest in just that, conceptual thinking will interrupt it and it will be difficult for awareness to appear nakedly.

So, at that point it is essential to rest without accepting or rejecting your thoughts and to continue by repeatedly resting in the state of un-fabricated awareness.

When you have practiced this again and again the force of your thought waves weakens while the face of your awareness grows sharper and it becomes easier to sustain.

That is the time when you should abide in the meditation state as much as you can and be mindful of remembering the face of awareness during post-meditation. As you grow used to this the strength of your awareness is trained further.

At first, when a thought occurs you need not apply a remedy to stop it. By leaving it to itself it is, at some point, naturally freed - just as the knot on a snake becomes untied by itself.

When you become more adept, the occurrence of a thought will cause slight turmoil but immediately vanish in itself - just like a drawing on the surface of water.

When you train in just that, you gain experience that transcends benefit and harm, at which point thought occurrences cause no problem whatsoever. Thus, you will be free from hope or fear about whether or not thoughts do occur - just like a thief entering an uninhabited house.

By practicing further you perfect the training so that, finally, your conceptual thinking and the all-ground along with its moving force dissolve into un-fabricated Dharmakaya.

That is the attainment of the natural abode of awareness.

Just as you cannot find any ordinary stones on an island of gold even if you search for them all that appears and exists will be experienced as the realm of Dharmakaya.

Attaining stability is when everything has become all-encompassing purity.

In the same way, just as conceptual thinking gradually falls under the power of awareness during the daytime, at night you do not need to apply some other instruction, but should simply understand how the recognition of dreams and the luminosities of the shallow and deep sleep correspond.

Until you attain stability, by all means continue with undistracted diligence like the steady flow of a river.

This was taught by Mipham. May virtuous goodness increase!

Mipham Rinpoche

Quote:

CULTIVATING LUCIDITY DIRECTLY

One of the best ways to lay a firm foundation for attaining proficiency

in lucid dreaming is to train in the shamatha technique

of settling the mind in its natural state. In this practice one's attention

is placed neither on the tactile sensations of the body nor

on the breath but on the phenomena of the mind itself. That

means that your object of attention will be the space of the mind

and whatever thoughts, emotions, images, and other kinds of

mental phenomena arise in that domain of experience. The goal

is to simply observe this passing parade without becoming

involved-without cultivating, investigating, being attracted to,

encouraging, or rejecting any mental phenomena that appear in

your mind. You maintain an even, calm presence whether those

phenomena come fast and furious or few and far between. You

have no preference as to what might appear. Just attend to what·

ever arises.

Using this practice as a complement to lucid dreaming

makes perfect sense. Settling the mind in its natural state

closely parallels the act of lucid dreaming. When you practice

settling the mind in its natural state, you are becoming lucid to

the mental activity of the waking state. You recognize these

mental events as mental events, not mistaking them for events

in the outer, intersubjective world. Normally we are as caught

up in and carried away by our mental activities in the daytime

as we are in the nocturnal mental activity we call dreaming.

Rarely do we step back and simply observe our minds in action,

becoming cognizant of the nature of the reality we are experiencing

in the present moment. It makes sense, then, that if you

can become lucid in your daytime experience, this will greatly

facilitate lucidity when you're dreaming. Settling the mind in

its natural state can also be effective for reentering dreams

when you awaken at night.

A Lamp to Dispel Darkness

An Instruction that Points Directly to the Very Essence of Mind

In the Tradition of ‘the Old Realized Ones’

by Mipham Jampal Dorje

[.................................................. ......READ IF YOU WANT :) ........................................]

The true measure of your familiarity with this is the ability to maintain the state of clear light during sleep. The signs that you are on the right track can be known through your own experience: your faith, compassion and wisdom will increase automatically, so that realization will come easily, and you will experience few difficulties. You can be certain about how profound and swift this approach is if you compare the realization it brings with the realization gained only through great effort in other approaches.

As a result of cultivating your mind’s own natural clear light, the obscurations of ordinary thinking and the habits it creates will be naturally cleared away (sang), and the two aspects of omniscient wisdom will effortlessly unfold (gyé). With this, as you seize the stronghold of your own primordial nature, the three kāyas will be spontaneously accomplished.

Profound! Guhya! Samaya!

This profound instruction was written by Mipham Jampal Dorje on the twelfth day of the second month, in the Fire Horse year (1906), for the benefit of village yogis and others, who, while not able to exert themselves too much in study and contemplation, still wish to take the very essence of mind into experience through practice. It has been set out in language that is easy to understand, in accordance with the experiential guidance of a great many old realized masters. Virtue! Mangalam!

Lucid Dreaming | Noise Negates WILD Right?

I couldn't find any threads on this:

Is it possible to do WILD with loud noises in the background? I woke up one morning and feeling like I could do a WILD, I tried to settle myself but I just never reached the point where I enter a dream. I tried many methods, such as pretending I am falling from the sky (this one brought me the closest), but it was like there was something constantly pulling me back to reality. I believe this was the fact that someone was mowing their lawn nearby and it is a very obnoxious noise. Do I need a generally noise-free environment to WILD?

Tractor Supply LED Emergency Light

Went to my local Tractor Supply to get my dogs favorite treats. While walking around looking at all the goodies I came across this multi-LED flashlight priced at $4.99. It came with batteries and had a spring-loaded clip point on it. It also had a magnet on the backside so it could be stuck on a fridge – or wherever. It also had a second flashlight on one end which provided a pretty decent concentrated beam.

What I have been most impressed with is the grid of 20 LED’s on the front. When turned on they throw out a wide flood of light. Truly – this would be great to stick on the fridge and if the power goes out it can light up the room.

Quality is – Chinese. Leave no doubt this is a cheap item. How long will it work? Good question. The on/off button seems to work well but the battery compartment cover seems to barely be on.

Hey – it’s $4.99. It runs on 3 AAA batteries and with all things considered is a great deal.

A few pictures follow below.

Take care all –

On my fridge the single narrow beam is extremely bright. By the way – I am a Georgia Bulldog fan – my wife likes Carolina.

Lucid Dreaming | Trying my first WILD Tonight!

I've been mostly using a MILD and DILD technique, but have had little success with actual lucidity, so tonight I'm going to start trying WILDs! I've come close to them when I've tried before, but I've usually freaked out!

This time, I plan to remain calm, visualise, and try to guide any hypnagogic hallucinations I might experience, but I know that sleep paralysis and scariness won't necessarily happen, and I tell myself that I can likely remove myself from anything if I feel too uncomfortable.

Does anyone have any good advice for a beginning WILDer?

Thanks!

Liolar

Lucid Dreaming | Which technique should I use I'm on the brink of lucidity

I've been practicing DEILD for a couple of days and have had some increasing results. Hopefully I get a LD soon, but if it fails then I want to have a plan B. So basically an overview is that after a wbtb I always go into a light sleep where I'm more aware and the dreams are visible. I've tried SSILD with this, but wasn't pleased with the results. So my question is which technique other than ssild should I use if DEILD fails?

Lucid Dreaming | Am I trying at the wrong time or am I just doing something wrong? (WILD)

So, as part of trying to go back to my LD-ing ways, I decided I'd do a WBTB today. Set my alarm to go off in roughly 6 hours and 50 minutes, accounting for the long time it takes me to fall asleep. However, I woke up early. Roughly 4-4.5 after falling asleep. I decided to WILD then, figured it was better if I naturally woke up.

And then I stood motionless on my bed for a long time. Typical stuff happened. I begin to feel heavy. I can still move my muscles but it feels like it would be harder than usual. A bunch of twitches as well, for some reason.

Then what I took as the dream starting began to happen: I saw white before my eyes while empty noise in my ears became apparent.

The annoying thing that has always happened to me in this phase is that I get the strong wish to open my eyelids, my right one specifically this time. It starts to twitch as if it wants to open for no apparent reason. Along with that, the white colors and noise progressed into nothing. So I continued to lay there, in a really uncomfortable position by now with the huge urge to swallow.

I got the flashes of light several more times and at one point, a really fast-beating heart. This really put me off continuing to WILD because my breathing got fucked up by the heart rate and my eyes wouldn't stay shut.

I'm taking this as if I tried to WILD at the wrong time. Because during all the time I laid still, this thing progressed into nothing. I think I was not due for my REM cycle, I was either entering the light sleep or deep sleep mode awake, thus no dreams could form. What was weird, I didn't strongly even get the dreamy thought processes, it was pretty easy to keep track of what I was thinking of.

Would I be right in assuming I just woke up at the wrong time? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank ye all.

Lucid Dreaming | Does your LD success rate increase if you decide to accomplish tasks in them?

Let's say that I decide on the task "improve my ability to fly" when I fall asleep tonight, and then stick to that goal until I have accomplished it, and remind myself while I'm falling asleep "alright I am going to dream in a moment, and when I do, I am going to practice flying".

Will this be a beneficial routine?

Lucid Dreaming | Am I doing these Reality Checks Right?

I've been concentrating on reality checks recently, and need a few assurances that this is the correct way to do them.

Usually, I sit down on my bed (if I'm in my room, otherwise I'll sit down wherever else I am), keeping my eyes open most of the time, I in a sense "zoom into" my environment, and become aware of it, aware of the fact that I can interact with any of it at any time; I look around and try to look at and notice little things that I don't normally pay attention to; once I'm more aware of my surroundings, I ask myself a few questions: "Who am I? When was I born? What's the date? What time is it?" After this, I begin to cycle through my senses, concentrating my awareness on each of them; first sight (checking to see if anything looks odd or out of place), then sound (checking for any strange sounds), then smell, then taste, and then touch. I try to keep an awareness of my body after that, and do a couple more cycles of the senses.

After this, once I feel I'm nearing about 10 minutes into the check, I do a couple of standard reality checks; finger-through-palm, breathe through nose, and checking the clock on my phone to see if it distorts, each time asking myself "Am I dreaming?" Once I'm satisfied that about ten minutes have passed, I've finished the reality check.

I also occasionally randomly do the little standard reality checks throughout the day; I haven't kept to a schedule of doing them over the past couple of days and have faltered a little, but I think I should get back into the rhythm of it tonight.

Thanks!

From the Desk of John Rourke – October 22nd, 2014

I appreciate you stopping by and visiting here on ModernSurvivalOnline.com.

Took the family to my brothers place in Georgia for the weekend. If you are not a long time reader you may not be aware that my brothers place is my bug out location. My overall plan is to stay at home – in place. If for some reason I need to move the family I have two options – one approx 30 miles away and then in Georgia – 3+ hours away.

Anyways – back to my weekend. Here are some pics I took. A few are previews of things to come:

Lucid Dreaming | Galantamine,Choline,B5. Tell me your experiences :D

So im going to be ordering those 3 supplements online, Galantamine 8mlg, Choline Bitartrate 500mlg, & Vitamin B5 all for about $27. I figured since its such a bargin why not try them out lol xD I wanted to know: What are the chances of SP, & getting Lucid when popping 1 of each of these 3 supplements all in one go? I plan on sleeping for 4-6 hours, pop the pills, than wait for a WILD. I have heard that WILD'ing with supplements is much easier & overall quicker. If it helps, I have never had an LD before but was super close with a WILD (: Also If You Want Could You Include Some Of Your Expierences With Supplements? These 3 In General. You Could Also Reccommend Me Different Supplements If They Have Helped You. I Am Always Willing To Try new Things (: Thanks.

Lucid Dreaming | How exactly is this technique supposed to work?

I heard this technique from a friend, and I think I read about it online some time ago as well, but never found any reason why or how it would trigger lucidity. It basically consists of "pretending" that you are in a lucid dream, throughout the day, for as long as possible. Pretending you "know" this is a dream, but you're just choosing to not take control over it.

How exactly is this supposed to trigger lucidity? Is it not likely that if you practice this technique for a while, then when you're really in a dream you're going to do nothing because you think you're still "pretending" and choosing to not take control?

Lucid Dreaming | Third Person Dreams and Reality Checks: What Should it Look Like?

I just encountered a philosophical quandary. I've recently started managing to do reality checks over the past month or so on a more regular basis. Although I've yet to have my first proper lucid dream, this has, within a month, helped me feel like I'm starting to scratch the surface, and that I'm getting close.

The reality checks that I normally do are finger-through-palm, breathing-through-nose, checking the clock/words in a book, and practicing some general awareness of my surroundings. Then it occurred to me that most of my dreams occur in the third person. Though sometimes they swap to a first-person view, I've noticed that I am usually watching a dream character who is assigned the label of "me", I then feel that character's emotions, and sometimes physical feelings too, despite seeing them through a "dream camera" so to speak.

Then I thought to myself, "If that's me, and I'm simply a camera, how will I do either of these reality checks?" I'm wondering, would I become aware, look down, and see my hands, and then be disassociated from the original character that the dream had assigned me to? Or would I be disembodied and unable to perform the check properly? Would the character perform the check for me, and then I could zoom into a first person view?

I'm not sure if this would seem an odd question to an experienced lucid dreamer, but I am genuinely curious about this.

Thanks!

Lucid Dreaming | easy LD technique!

Recently I found a technique in a website that has introduced a very easy and guaranteed way to enter into dream state which can be use to have lucid dreams.

(you can google this sentence and find the web site " how to see through your third eye in one single day)

I have tried this method for 3 times since yesterday and every time it worked! Not only for me but for ever one who has tried it in that website! Here is the technique:

1. Do WBTS (waking up and going to sleep)

2. Before falling to sleep, tell yourself you will wake up several times spontaneously.

3. After waking up spontaneously, try not to move. But that's ok if you move a little.

4. When you are falling asleep again, open your eyes for a second and see the wall in front of you and then close your eyes.

5. Try to visualize the wall in front of you as you fall sleep.

6. After10 to 20 seconds, you are able to see that wall and your room with your third eye.

7. In that state, you are in your dream or maybe astral realm!

8. Congratulations!

This method Has worked 100% up until now!

Lucid Dreaming | Accidental Almost-MILD? Should i begin to practice it?

Hi Guys,

Today i had nearly-successful yet still accidental mild. I woke up somewhere around 8:15 i've remembered to do reality check at that time of morning since my plan was to start doing reality checks every 15 - 20 minutes during the day. I recalled that it was my plan, did one or two reality checks then fell asleep. I had regular non-lucid dream for few minutes and then suddenly that thing hit me. You know the feeling when you forgot about something and somehow brain itself reminds you that etc. I suddenly remembered that i forgot or should do reality checks then decided to do few reality tests but unfortunely hands were fine, enviornment around was fine and noseplug check worked yet i though it was due to some wound that i had days ago that i were able to breathe :yeah

So anyways guys since this kind of accidental mild happend i think i might have more luck with MILD than with WILD and DILDs.

Was that a legit MILD-Like Expierence and should i give a try to MILD?

What do you guys think?

- Thanks

Essentials for a Vehicle Emergency Kit

By Cherie

Being prepared for an emergency is serious business. You probably realize, for instance, the wisdom of carrying an emergency kit in your vehicle. But do you have one in there right now?

During the winter of 2006, a couple and their children were returning home from vacation. They missed their turnoff, drove perhaps an hour beyond it, and decided to try an alternate route across the mountains.

It wasn’t a good idea. They ended up stuck in snow, low on gas, and lost. They carried no emergency gear. After a week of going hungry, the husband decided to hike out for help. Two days later, rescuers arrived to find the mother and two little girls cold and hungry, but alive. The husband was later found dead in a canyon.

The first thing to know about getting stranded is that you are almost always better off staying put. In order to make that possible, these five things can be a lifesaver:

Water: You can go weeks without food, but you’ll be lucky to make it a week without water. You can either carry water or something to carry water in. Use your head here. If you are going to be traveling across the desert, carry water. If you are going to be near water sources, it will be good enough to have empty containers and a purification kit.

Shelter: Every summer, tourists take off down the trail for a day hike in the mountains, get lost, and end up freezing to death when the temperature drops and a storm sets in. “Shelter” means anything between you and the elements: Sleeping bags or wool blankets and heavy plastic for makeshift structures. Include heavy sweatshirts, dry socks, and stocking caps for each passenger.

Food: MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat) pack up well and can last for years. On the low-budget end, Raman noodles can taste pretty good when you’re hungry. Include a cooking pot, and some mugs. A small grill rack can come in handy, as well. With a good knife, you can slice off kindling material and cut food. Keep a Sunday paper rolled up tight for extra help getting your fire started.

Communications: Cell phones don’t work everywhere, and they can run out of battery power. But even when you are out of cell range, they can guide a rescue team to you. Dial 911 when you are in trouble. Even if you have no voice service, your phone may leave a digital footprint to follow. Carry a solar charger for your phone. You may be able to reach a cellular tower by climbing to the top of a hill or ridge. Other communications devices include mirrors, flares, laser pointers, glow sticks, flashlights, and surveyor’s fluorescent tape. Be sure to stow one daytime signaling device and one nighttime signaling device.

E-Pack: The E-Pack (Emergency Pack) is a backpack containing miscellaneous items: A survival knife, butane lighters and/or waterproof matches, a first-aid kit, a survival manual, 20 feet or so of good, stout cord, and extra water purification tablets. Those who take medication should carry extra. Toothbrushes help keep you feeling human and toilet paper is nice. Coffee drinkers will want to keep a jar of instant handy. Consider the things you would normally take camping and fill your E-Pack accordingly. It is also good to carry a flag. It can go on the car antenna to indicate help is needed, or placed on a pole or hung on a ridge to get the attention of searchers.

Tending to car maintenance issues can prevent trouble. A pre-trip inspection can uncover issues easily fixed in town, but dangerous on the road. Checking the oil and water, battery condition, water hose condition, and making sure your tires are properly inflated and in good shape (including the spare) are essentials. Tires are easy to replace.

People get lost. Cars break down. Just be ready.

Lucid Dreaming | Has anyone tried this?

So, I had a thought about a lucid induction method, and wondered if anyone has tried it or at least given some thought to it:

What if, while lucid, you instructed a dream character to come back to you in every dream, and inform you that you're dreaming? Would it work?

(is this in the wrong place?)

Lucid Dreaming | Does anyone get lucid dreams accidently from pressing snooze?

I thought I might share this, in case anyone is having trouble attaining lucidity!

I seem to be a natural lucid dreamer because of my tendency to want to sleep in. Then I realized, maybe it's the pressing snooze and knowing I have to wake up that triggers the lucid dreams I get!

Does anyone else find this to be the case with them? What will happen to me is I'll have my usual dreams, then wake up because of my alarm and press snooze and feel like I shouldn't go back to bed, but want to sleep so badly, then trigger a lucid because I know I should wake up. I'll have a FA in which I'm trying to wake up and then realize I'm dreaming.

Lucid Dreaming | Caught up in the routine :( need tips

Okay, since the course started (a month ago) my day to day has become a very repetitive routine. I have quite a long commute every day and the fact that I study in the afternoons leaves me close to no free time during the week. This, plus the fact that I've been overthinking about a personal issue (which will last for several months) has turned into poor recall, dull dreams and, of course, almost no lucidity. I guess many people have a similar problem with routine. What do you guys do to avoid these things get in the way of your progress?

Lucid Dreaming | Problem with lucidity induction

hi! i would like to adress a serious issue i've been having since i had my 1st two lucid Dreams:

ever since i had my 2nd Lucid Dream i've been experiencing some weird things in dreams and reality such as diziness in daytime and strange to no dreams during sleep time (being the camera of my dreams, dissasembled babies...etc)

and all that i couldn't do a single RC (i've induced the 1st two LDs with DILD and now i DIELD can't even get me a dream)

so...any suggestions?

Lucid Dreaming | Which technique is the best for me can anyone help me figure out?

OK, so i'm interested in lucid dreaming but can't figure out which technique to use.

The problem with reality checks is that i am forgetful and cannot remember to do so. I cannot attain the mind-awake-body-asleep state and have tried WILD without much success. The only time i have been close to having an LD was reciting "I'll have a LD "100 times i had a faint realization of it being a dream but just woke up with a start. I'll sincerely try any advice which i find useful.

Thanks

P.S. I couldn't access internet because of the storm HUDHUD in our area. :)

Digital “Crystal” Breathes New Life into Old Radio

2014-10-14-214438_1366x768_scrot

[Bill Meara] of the Soldersmoke Podcast has a nice old Drake 2B radio, and wanted to use it for the 12 meter amateur band. These old radios normally make switching tuning bands easy — you just swap out one frequency crystal for another and you’re set.

Only [Bill] didn’t have the 21 MHz crystal that he needed. No problem, because he had a junk crystal, a hacksaw, and a modern direct-digital synthesis (DDS) chip sitting around. So he takes the donor crystal, cuts it open, and solders the two wires directly from the DDS to the crystal’s pins. Now he’s got a plug-in replacement digital oscillator that doesn’t require modifying the nice old Drake receiver at all. A sweet little trick.

The video’s a little bit long, but the money shot comes in around 5:00.

Now, one might worry about simply plugging a powered circuit (the DDS) in place of a passive element (the crystal), but it seems to work and the proof of the pudding is in the tasting. We wonder how far this digitally-controlled-analog-receiver idea could be extended.

Lucid Dreaming | Is DILD perfect for me?

Hi everybody,

First I like to say that I really like DV. Especially the people on here, the information that's available and willingness to help.

So thank you all!

My question: Since childhood I woke up after I 've had a dream every night. Sometimes four or five times in a row, always right after a dream.

If I wake up I'm almost fully conscious and it usually takes about 2/3 minutes to get back to sleep.

Is it the perfect base for DILD's?

Lucid Dreaming | A question regarding one DILD Technique Effectiveness?

Hi,

I've got a short question regarding one DILD Technique i heard about?

I remember it was posted on other lucid dreaming website.

It was something like this:

Every x minutes ask myself what i was doing before (or one hour ago), what i'm doing now, and what i'm suppose to do next (or do next in x minutes).

I'm thinking about switching from WILDs to DILDs and this technique seems quite good one ;-)

Do you people think that this technique would be an effective one?

- Thanks

Lucid Dreaming | Q: How to remind yourself of your tasks when becoming lucid?

I'll keep it short. I consider myself pretty experienced lucid dreamer and I have frequent lucid dreams. Still, every time I become lucid I tend to do something completely different than what I planned to do. Any tips and tricks / ideas of how to remind my self of my tasks?

Lucid Dreaming | Visiting unfamiliar places while practicing Lucid Living/All Day Awareness

Have you ever tried this?

I often take walks around campus at my university, and sometimes at the university itself, and I often end up at places that I am not very familiar with - and I have noticed that this makes it much easier for me to be extra aware of my surroundings, and kind of pretend that I am in a dream.

I believe this is because the unfamiliar places feel new and unexplored, just like lucid dreams always do, so it becomes easier for me to feel a genuine excitement and curiosity over those places, which is very similar to the curiosity you feel during lucid dreaming.

What will be around the next corner?

What will I find behind that door?

And so on.

I would actually recommend it, I find it very effective.

Lucid Dreaming | Am I making any progress towards Lucidity at all

Hello,

I'm a beginner trying to obtain a Lucid Dreams for the past three nights.

My first time I used the DILD but I ended up not sleeping because I guess I was too excited (my heart rate and breathing went fast, so it prevented me from sleeping.)

My second time was somewhat of a success. I ended up having 4 dreams in one night and I could remember them but none were lucid because I wasn't aware I was in a dream. But I recorded all 4 of them in my Dream Journal.

My third time (last night) I didn't dream at all or so I think, if I did I don't remember.

Here are the things I been doing for the past three days to help me:

During the day I randomly stop and ask myself ''Am I dream'' about ten times a day. I then check my hands and count my fingers and say ''Next time I dreaming, I look at my hands, and realize I'm dreaming."

At night I repeat mantras in my head and then I visualize my self doing reality checks inside my dreams.

Any suggestions or tips for help is all welcomed

Thank you

Lucid Dreaming | A thought. Your thoughts...

My lucid dreams used to start thus:

I'd think I'm dreaming. Do a nose pinch. Then immediately take off.

I dropped the idea of taking off as a part of my "default" because I wanted to explore my immediate environment.

I then experienced a plunge in the regularity of my lucid dreams - both deliberate and accidental.

May be coincidence? May be something to it?

Lucid Dreaming | Weird Psychological Device for Lucidity

Last night I was having a normal, non-lucid dream in which you don't question odd things. In that dream, I went into a store that had dream pods for rent. You could pay a fee to "nap" in a pod for four hours, during which time the pod would keep you lucid in your dreams. I paid the admission alongside a coworker that I recently had a business trip with in real life, and suddenly I was in lucid land.

It didn't occur to me, even in lucidity, that the coworker probably wasn't really sharing the dream with me. Yet, we had a lot of fun. In the lucid dream land, lots of strangers were there who had also paid fees to use lucid pods in other stores. Somehow we were sharing a common reality that we all knew was fake. I watched people living out murder fantasies, ninja fantasies, and all sorts of stuff. I was too busy looking around at all the amazing detail and wondering once again how my brain could render so much resolution in real time. In many of my lucid dreams, I have to be careful not to turn my head too fast or else I get ahead of my brain's rendering power. In this dream, however, that wasn't an issue. Wherever I looked, there was so much detail that I kept having to perform personal magic tricks in order to remind myself that it wasn't actually real.

Like many dreams, I couldn't remember the entire thing upon waking. However, I do remember a couple of incredibly detailed scenes. I also remember that at one point, a wizard came along and attempted an attack on a lucid dreamer. I reached out and tried to "burst" him as I had seen some other lucid dreamers do to some authority figures, but it didn't work. He started laughing at me as he advanced. I shifted tactics and raised him into the air with my outstretched arm. For some reason I was unable to shoot energy beams or lightning bolts, but I had a firm hold on him, so I thrashed him around, slamming him into the ground. He asked, "How are you doing this? How can you be this powerful?" I responded, "It's my dream, bitch."

That's the first lucid dream I've had in a long time. I thought it was cool how a non-lucid dream turned itself into a lucid dream through a psychological device that I wasn't expecting.

Lucid Dreaming | I had 4 different dreams last night but I coulldn't become selfaware

Hello

I'm new to Lucid Dreaming

I tried to have a LD the day before but I ended up not sleeping because my heart was beating fast and including breathing got faster.

But last night I had 4 different dreams and I never even notice I was in them!!! I recorded them all in my dream journal btw.

Since I'm only a beginner, I been only performing DILD for the last two days. I try to stay consistent throughout the day by doing reality checks like 'Am I dreaming' and examining my surroundings. At night when I'm lying down I repeat the mantra in my head ''Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming'' until fall asleep or get really drowsy.

I feel like I made some progress by remembering 4 dreams and actually sleeping last night.

How should I progress from here?

What should I do to help or increase my chances in becoming self aware that I'm in a dream and performing reality checks in my dreams.

Thank you

Lucid Dreaming | When will reality checks start being performed in my dreams?

Hello, this is my first post to dreamviews! I'm not new to lucid dreaming, but I am new to this site so sorry if I get something wrong!

So, a bit of background on my quest for lucidity to help you know a bit about me:

I knew about lucid dreaming for quite a few years before actually learning there were ways to do it willingly. Before that, I only thought it was a thing which could randomly happen to a few lucky people during their dreams.

It was near the start of March this year when I got a crush on someone and, due to some search queries which I can't specifically remember, I found out you could use lucid dreaming as a way to do whatever you wanted to... :P

So I recorded in my DJ for a couple of months and performed RCs throughout the day, but to no avail. I gave up doing RCs and stopped recording in my DJ for a while, until one weekend I had a short moment of lucidity in a dream. I got excited after that and restarted trying to LD. I tried a few techniques like MILD, WBTB, and MILD + WBTB but I still had no lucid dreams. I gave up yet again and now I have restarted for the third time. This time I plan to keep it up for good.

So, with my RCs, I perform maybe 2-3 per hour, and I do the nose pinch one (and I REALLY expect to be able to breathe through my nose), followed by checking my hands + counting fingers, then finally I finish it with trying to poke my finger through my hand (again, really willing it to go through).

I've done these reality checks for a month now, and my dream recall is pretty damn good compared to when I started. At the start of my journey I had dry spells where I went for 3-5 days without even remembering a single fragment of a dream, but now I rarely have blank days, and I can usually remember 2-3 dreams in detail, but this morning I remembered 4 different dreams. Usually, out of the 3 I remember, at least one is very vivid.

From what I've learnt about lucid dreaming, this is a very good rate to be remembering dreams at. But still, the only lucid I've had was a random DILD, without RCing, and I have never before performed one of my RCs inside a dream! So, when will my RCs take effect in a dream?

I also want to note that I don't to these RCs mindlessly, so that means I am thinking and expecting to be in a dream while I do them, but it's still not working!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Lucid Dreaming | What is SSILD? And am I on the right track?

I keep seeing it on here and I just want to know what it is. Is it kind of like DEILD? I had a lucid dream back in late July late in the morning and figured out it was DEILD. I know that because I woke up, stayed perfectly still, and after some seconds of hearing fast paced pulsed ringing noises, I went into a new one. Is SSILD like this or is it different?

Also, I'm starting to work on LDs again since my summer vacation finished. With school, I haven't been focusing much but I will try to starting this weekend. From that dream I had in late July up until early September, I had about 3 or 4 LDs and most of them came fairly easy to me. One night, I did a WBTB along with an MILD and without putting that much effort into it, I had an LD. So is this a good sign that I'll be good at lucid dreaming?

Lucid Dreaming | Testing SSILD for a month

My goal here is to use the SSILD induction technique for 30 days and see how many lucids it leads to. Normally I would just do this alone, but a BIG problem for me is awaking during the night for trying a technique, then being too lazy and falling back asleep. So, I am starting this thread to make myself accountable. Also, to hopefully spread the word about SSILD and show how successful (or not) it is for me.

Yes, I know I had a very similar thread previously about testing FILD as well, but that didn't work because doing FILD meant staying close to sleep, and so I simply fell asleep without doing anything. I still need to get back into good LDing habits, I have been far too lazy for too long, so hopefully this thread will really make me motivated.

My exact technique may vary from night to night, but to start off I will SSILD before sleeping at all, then awaken about 3 hours in to DJ, SSILD briefly, then sleep again. I will then repeat this every 1.5 hours or so, then hopefully DJ again upon waking up for the day.

I will also notate my sleep debt as it was before that night, as this effects REM rebound, etc.

Everyone else, feel free to join me and comment also on their technique and progress.

So, here we go!

Lucid Dreaming | Trying to become lucid every night by 2015

I have a big goal that I want to accomplish - gain the ability to become lucid every night. I've set a cutoff date for myself: January 1st 2015. Basically I want to prove to myself that I can accomplish anything if I put my mind to it.

A little back story - I picked up lucid dream about a year and a half ago. Since then I've spent many hours reading about lucid dreaming and am familiar with almost every technique in the alphabet. Lately though I've fallen behind. I don't use reality checks as much and I stopped writing in my dream journal. At the current rate, I get about 4 lucid dreams per month, all DILDs.

But I'm not really happy with this. I don't want to slack on by anymore, I want to master it. If this means spending all my free time focusing on lucid dreaming, then so be it.

What techniques have you employed to help you master lucid dreaming? What should I seriously look into? Any general lifestyle advice that may help? I'm open to anything. I only have 3 months left after all.

via Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views - Attaining Lucidity http://ift.tt/1pJ90np

Lucid Dreaming | How long did it take for frequent LD's to start?

I've had one LD (via DILD), and it's been about 11 days since it occurred.

I'm not feeling impatient or anything, to the contrary I'm still invigorated by my first LD :)

But...

I kind of expected it to become a bit more frequent after my first LD. Maybe this was because it was induced by a DC who told me I was dreaming?

How long did it take for you guys to get your 2nd and 3rd lucid dreams? What techniques did you start with or move to after the first LD? :thanks:

Lucid Dreaming | Is this normal...no rush of awareness...forgetting reality

So the past two times I've had a lucid dream, I have not gotten that rush of awareness/euphoria that accompanied my previous ones. Like my first two, I of course wen't around screaming "I'm dreaming!" and had to work at calming myself down. Last week, I was in a creepy scene and realized it didn't look normal, then realized I was dreaming, and usually I take flight right away, but because it was creepy, I was panicked and couldn't so the panic woke me up.

Then last night, it was a birthday party for me, and I was talking to my grandmother and grandfather, after they left I realized that they were dead, and therefore; could not have been there. I realized I must be dreaming. Again, no euphoria or ruch of awareness, which I even thought about right after I became lucid. I was like where is that damn rush, I also thought I always fly right away so I will have to make sure to make my intent clear, since I want to stay here. I then walked to the front door, and wanted my grandfather to walk back in so I could see him again. I knew that I needed to believe it and it would happen. It did he walked back in and I was hugging him, and crying saying how much I missed/loved him and could he believe I was already 26 (I'm really 30). All the crying woke me up and I was crying in real life. I did wake up in sleep paralysis.

Now two questions: does that rush of euphoria/awareness not happen all the time or does it wear off? or was it the strong emotions of the dreams that didn't allow for it to happen?

Second: I was lucid but I went along with the idea that I was 26th since that was what number the party was about, but I'm really 30. Shouldn't I have changed it, since I should have had all my awareness with me?
