Lucid Dreaming | Dreaming of your Induction

I am trying to figure out if I keep dreaming that I am performing my induction techniques.

So let me explain... I lay down and perform WILD, FILD, or whatever technique to maintain consciousness as I fall asleep. I typically find myself in a state of awareness where I feel vibrations but I have lost sense of where I am so to speak. Often I will feel vibrations and can somehow see although my eyes are closed but I am in a totally different room. I even had chained lucids this morning but could swear each time one ended and another began I would get vibrations although I was in a different room each time. Not sure how I knew it was a different room. Hard to explain with the exception of cases where I could see the room.

When I get to the phase where I start to visualize dream images (before I step into the dream) it's like I am in a vacuum and I am not that aware of my room at all so not sure if I have maintained consciousness seamlessly or if I am dreaming that I am doing the induction. Has anyone experienced this?

On a positive note, I read a chaining technique where each time a dream ends tell yourself "I am still lucid. A new dream will form soon". It worked extremely well last night. Each time vibrations would start and then a new dream would appear.

APRS Tracking System Flies Your Balloons

Looking for a way to track your high-altitude balloons but don’t want to mess with sending data over a cellular network? [Zack Clobes] and the others at Project Traveler may have just the thing for you: a position-reporting board that uses the Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) network to report location data and easily fits on an Arduino in the form of a shield.

The project is based on an Atmel 328P and all it needs to report position data is a small antenna and a battery. For those unfamiliar with APRS, it uses amateur radio frequencies to send data packets instead of something like the GSM network. APRS is very robust, and devices that use it can send GPS information as well as text messages, emails, weather reports, radio telemetry data, and radio direction finding information in case GPS is not available.

If this location reporting ability isn’t enough for you, the project can function as a shield as well, which means that more data lines are available for other things like monitoring sensors and driving servos. All in a small, lightweight package that doesn’t rely on a cell network. All of the schematics and other information are available on the project site if you want to give this a shot, but if you DO need the cell network, this may be more your style. Be sure to check out the video after the break, too!

Lucid Dreaming | A cool watch for reality test

By browsing the web, I found this one pretty cool, and ideal for performing RC in my sense, I just wanted to share :

http://ift.tt/1Im9n1X

There is a timer with a silent alarm (vibration), maybe a way to do a dild ? If our body can receive vibration from the wrist into the dream ? Or maybe while performing a RC each time the watch give a vibration, we will perform a RC while dreaming when the watch give vibration during a REM stage ?

In your opinion is it gadget ? Or usefull ?

Lucid Dreaming | Targeting REM Cycles

I understand the idea behind targeting REM cycles for WILD attempts. However I've never been clear on the following points:

1) Let say you start a WILD or other technique attempt and a REM cycle isn't set to begin soon... What actually happens? If the idea is to trick your body to fall asleep... wouldn't it just fall asleep and you mind stay awake but no dream forms? Does your body only fall asleep if a REM cycle is beginning? People say target a REM period otherwise you just fall asleep entirely, but if you are keeping your mind conscious I would think either your body falls asleep and no dream forms or you lie their indefinitely.

2) What determines when the REM period begins. If you are going to say it's based solely on how long you have been asleep this doesn't make sense for the following reason. People say to wake up "before" a REM cycle begins and then wait for it to start. Well while you are waiting you haven't slept any longer so how are you "waiting" for the REM period to begin if it's based on how long you have been sleeping. I would think you would have to sleep longer if the REM period isn't set to begin yet. Either that or by lying in lowered brainwave state somehow substitutes for full sleep. Otherwise it must be some combination of factors that onset the REM period. I am sure the change in brain chemistry the longer you stay awake also is a factor.

Lucid Dreaming | Physical sensations in head on verge of a LD (WILDing)

I always wanted to ask. Does anybody have physical sensations in head when just about entering a LD via WILD?

I have a rather strong sensation in my brain. Top and back of the head, feels like something just turned on. Fizzing, almost bubbling, and sounds like when you put alka-seltzer in water. Not sure if I hear it or only imagine hearing it, or associating the sensation with familiar sound.

But the sensation is there every time when less then 3 seconds from entering LD via WILD. When I feel that, I know I crossed the event horizon.

Happy lucids

Lucid Dreaming | What is your mantra?

There is an older post like this one from 2009, but I am curious to see what the current members say!

As the title suggests, what mantras do you use throughout the day or before bed for lucid dreaming? How successful have they been?

My personal mantra:

I will lucid dream.

I will have control.

Is this a dream?

I am dreaming.

I will have control.

I repeat this at various times of the day while imagining my previous nights dreams, and what would have happened had I become lucid. If I find a voice in my head that is doubting my ability, I push it out of my mind and restart.

Lucid Dreaming | Need help

I've gotten into lucid dreaming for a long time, and rarely did i put much effort to get lucid dreams. I skipped over the dream journal practice and just did RCs most of the time.

The result is me having a very low amount of experience in dream control and low number of lucid dreams.

I want to get serious. I need to overcome this weak ability.

1. Should i have a dream journal? if so, is it enough to write tags in it instead of full details about the dream?

2. Consider me a beginner, what technique should i do for now? and should i stick with it for months?

3. Does sleep positions actually matter?

I'm looking forward to the path of lucid dreams, and the only things that bother me are these concerns. So please provide advice.

So I did some research suggesting that Choline (supplement, not to be confused with the deadly gas) could be used as an aid in lucid dreaming. I've tried everything and nothing's worked out thus far. Any advice on how affective Choline alone is for LDing or how much to take?

Measuring Filters and VSWR With RTL-SDR

Once again the ubiquitous USB TV tuner dongle has proved itself more than capable of doing far more than just receiving broadcast TV. Over on the RTL-SDR blog, there’s a tutorial covering the measurement of filter characteristics using a cheap eBay noise source and an RTL-SDR dongle.

For this tutorial, the key piece of equipment is a BG7TBL noise source, acquired from the usual online retailers. With a few connectors, a filter can be plugged in between this noise source and the RTL-SDR dongle. With the hardware out of the way, the only thing remaining is the software. That’s just rtl_power and this wonderful GUI. The tutorial is using a cheap FM filter, and the resulting plot shows a clear dip between 50 and 150 MHz. Of course this isn’t very accurate; there’s no comparison to the noise source and dongle without any attenuation. That’s just a simple matter of saving some scans as .csv files and plugging some numbers in Excel.

The same hardware can be used to determine the VSWR of an antenna, replacing the filter with a directional coupler; just put the coupler between the noise source and the dongle measure the attenuation through the range of the dongle. Repeat with the antenna connected, and jump back into Excel.

Lucid Dreaming | Am I doing something wrong?

My last lucid dream was a week ago with WBTB. Since then I have not had any lucid dream and my dream recall has decreased (I do keep a dream journal). I feel I am doing something wrong. I go to sleep between 9PM and 10:30PM and set my alarm to wake me up at 6 hours. When I wake up I sometimes do the SSILD technique and sometimes I just stay awake for 15 minutes for WBTB. I do option 1 about 25% of the time. My strategy is the following:

Wake up later from 6 hours.

Voice-record my dream.

option 1: SSILD (I take from 10-15min). If I succeed, lucid dream. If I don't, its a WBTB and will better my chances in the future.

option 2: WBTB (I remain awake for 15min). If I succeed, lucid dream. If I don't, it will increase my chances in the future.

Go back to sleep.

If I want to WBTB correctly do I really have to stay up from 20min-1hr? Also, I have tried SSILD for about 5 times now and nothing. Could this be a dry spell? or maybe I am just desperate to have another lucid dream.

Improving Your Hunt: Practice Makes Perfect

By Cherieshutterstock_256345165

Journalist and fitness enthusiast Christopher McDougall once said, “We’re designed for persistence hunting, which is a mix of running and walking. What’s built into that kind of running is a sense of pleasure. You are designed and built and perfect for this activity, and it should be enjoyable and fun.” For those who enjoy the thrill of the hunt during game season, it’s easy to forget that hunting takes more than enthusiasm throughout the rest of the year. And though we may be built for “that kind of running,” some of us could use a tuneup. Peak performance means being at the top of your game. Luckily, there are many resources available to hunters to improve your craft year-round.

Get Physically Fit

To better improve your hunting game, you must first improve your level of physical fitness. Hunting takes endurance, agility and the fastest of reflexes. There are entire programs dedicated to optimizing the physical performance required for hunting. Train to Hunt hosts annual events in places like Arizona, Colorado and Washington that are designed around mountain fitness and survival. These workouts focus on your legs, shoulders and lungs while you hike and backpack the terrain to build your stamina and endurance.

There are also workout regimes that you can do from home to work out those muscles specific to hunting. Step-ups, planks and dead lifts are among the recommended exercises that prepare you to take on the challenges of hunting terrain.

Sharpen Your Skills

The kind of training you should pursue to better your shot depends on your firearm or bow. For the rifle hunter, organizations like the Peacemaker National Training Center in West Virginia offer unique rifle courses engineered by experienced marksmen to improve your shooter skills and help you understand how to consistently make those longer shots.

Different education and training is required for the bow hunter. Some hunter safety courses can be completed online, and other courses focus the bowman’s efforts on form and accuracy. Manufacturers like Lancaster offer training supplies such as slings and stance monitors to assist you in maintaining your form so you can make those tricky shots.

Do Your Research

Stations like the Outdoor Channel, the Sportsman Channel and HuntIt TV offer a slew of programming geared toward the outdoorsman. These sporting shows can be used as research and entertainment and are available with Dish and other networks.

It’s equally as important to understand the hunting environment, particularly the layout of the land. Explore maps of the area and know the behavior patterns of the game and their peak rut seasons to optimize your chances of coming home with a prize.

Hunting is more than a seasonal camping trip. It’s a lifestyle. It takes dedication. To be in optimal hunting shape when the time of year comes around, you have to work on improving your game all year long. Maintaining your level of fitness, training for your specific weapon and selected terrain, as well as doing your research, will result in an improved hunt. The sport of hunting is not for the weak or the faint of heart — but as McDougall points out, you’re designed for this.

3 Keys For Locating, Developing Bug-Out Destination

By Cherie

Those fortunate enough to have a bunker near their homes will be in good position to survive the storm. Everyone else should have a bug-out location already scouted and mapped out, but all places of refuge are not created equal. Keep the following three pieces of advice in mind when determining your SHTF location.

shutterstock_59289394 Logistics

When choosing a location to bug out, there are two very important factors that cannot be ignored. The first is distance from cities. You want the spot to be a reasonable distance away from towns with a populations over 5,000. Desperate, hungry people left with nothing will come searching for food and water at some point. The longer they have to walk, the less likely they’ll survive the journey.

Second, you want the spot to be close enough for you to make it there at a moment’s notice and on a single tank of gas. A good rule of thumb is to purchase land at least 15 miles from the nearest major town. Make a few test trips there beforehand to ensure your vehicle can make it safely.

Terrain is also very important. Flat desert and plains give unsavory individuals a clear view of your sanctuary from as far away as their binoculars or telescopes can see. Mountainous and heavily-treed areas should be given top priority. Both provide a means to conceal your shelter, while also allowing you to look down upon everything for surveillance. The less ways in and out of the location, the better.

Water

Humans can potentially survive up to 30 days without food. But after three days of no water, you’ll be knocking on death’s door. There’s no telling how long you might be at your bug-out location, so water must be readily available at all times or easily accessible in some way.

The ideal scenario is to buy an acre or two of land somewhere near a lake or river. Of course land with readily-available water will be expensive regardless of location. Another option is to harvest rain water. All you need is a few 55-gallon rain barrels and place them in an open area during downpours. Those who want to get creative can rent a scissorlift and attach a system of down spouts on tree tops.

A well is the second-most ideal scenario. But depending on how deep you have to drill, the cost can average between $5,000 and $7,000. A network of DIY solar stills provide an effective means of purifying urine and other dirty liquids to make them drinkable. All you need is a shovel, spade and plastic sheets to ensure you make these survival stills.

Food Sources

Assuming your bug out vehicle is a van or RV, you’ve taken care of the water and shelter aspects of post-Apocalypse survival. No matter how many cans of food and bags of dry rice you buy, it will ultimately run out and need to be replenished.

Property close to water will get a lot of deer and other foot traffic through the area. Snares and other traps can be set around the area to snag rabbits, raccoons and other small game. You can consider raising rabbits for meat, as they eat almost anything green and can produce upward of 14 babies per litter. Fishing hooks, line and bait should be well stocked in your vehicle long before evacuation is necessary.

Nobody knows exactly when or how the breakdown of civil society will happen. The sooner you start preparing for the inevitable, the better off you and the family will be.

Lucid Dreaming | Back after a long couple of months!

Hi all!

I have been away from the site as well as lucid dreaming in general for a few months...Life tends to drag you back sometimes! Anyhow, I'm quite saddened by the fact that my dream recall has almost completely vanished. I used to be able to remember a good 3 to 4 dreams minimum every day, but now it's a mission to recall just the one! I am still DJing, but this doesn't seem to be helping. I've had a few LDs since first discovering this site (which was maybe over 3 years ago), but I really want to get serious about LDing. My issues are as follows:

- What can I do to further improve my dream recall?

- I keep seeing so many techniques and ways to approach LDing, which would be best to choose in my situation?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I really want to start LDing properly!

:)

Lucid Dreaming | Conscious awareness in a WILD lucid dream

I have yet to have a WILD lucid dream yet and plan to try this week until I get it to work. I was wondering, how consciously aware are you in a lucid dream? For instance, in waking life I can think of past memories, think of things and people that I like, think of song that I like, think to myself, and everything feels exactly real. In all the dreams that I had, this thinking ability is impaired. In my lucid dreams it is also hard to remember things if I even do. In a WILD lucid dream, are you able to think and all that like in real life?

Lucid Dreaming | Lucid Dreaming in Tough Conditions - Need Advice

WBTB, WILDs, SSILD, WTFLMAOs... all good and nice and smooth. Provided one thing: the possibility to wake up at night.

Well, some of us don't have that luxury. Sharing the bedroom, noisy environs, can't go to sleep early, alarm clock is a prerequisite for a successful day, all those seem to be a major hit to both your LD life and motivation.

Well, what are we to do? Just work MILD into the ground? Surely there's some other method. Please share.

via Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views - Attaining Lucidity http://ift.tt/1GyTQxE

Lucid Dreaming | Testing SSILD for 60 days

I'm gonna be testing the SSILD technique for 60 days and I will post what happened on each day.

The reason I'm doing this is because I learned the SSILD technique just a few days ago and tried it for 2 consecutive nights and I got 2 lucid dreams, one on each attempt!!! so that's 100% of effectiveness so far even though I'm a total noob! I can only imagine how reliable this technique could be if I become an expert :yddd:

Now I will briefly describe what I did on the 2 successful attempts from last week.

For the WBTB part:

1. I went to sleep at around 2:30 a.m.

2. My alarm went off at 8:20 a.m.

3. I recorded the dreams I had dreams in my DJ (wich were very short and not very vivid)

4. I stayed up until 9 a.m.

Now for the SSILD part:

1. At 9 a.m. I started doing the SSILD technique

2. I lay down comfortably

3. I passively focused my attention on my vision for approximately 20 seconds, focusing on what I saw (just blackness and a few random shapes behind my closed eyelids) but not expecting to see anything.

4. Doing the same with my hearing for approximately 20 seconds too, focusing on what I heard but not expecting to hear anything

5. And lastly the same with my Somesthetic Senses (touch)

I was supposed to complete 4 sets of focusing on my vision, hearing and touch and by the 3rd set I was already about to fall asleep but I managed to complete the 4 sets.

(If you want to see the steps for the SSILD technique in more detail check this out: Senses Initiated Lucid Dream (SSILD))

What happened next is I was dreaming and suddenly realized it was a dream

Pretty much the same happened the next day and I got another LD! :D they were kind of short (around 2 minutes) but I forgot to do some stabilization techniques when I was lucid so I'll blame it on that :P

Ok so, I'm gonna start this night and I'll post my results for Day 1 tomorrow wish me luck bros ;)

Lucid Dreaming | Article about marijuana's effects on dreaming

I know from experience that marijuana, especially if I use it on a regular basis, wrecks my dreaming situation. I can't recall many dreams, I really struggle to have lucids, and I can't stay lucid for more than a few seconds if I am fortunate enough to even have a lucid dream. That is one of the reasons I haven't smoked pot in the last six months. According to this article, marijuana dims dream quality because it suppresses R.E.M. sleep.

Why Your Dreams Are Suddenly So Intense After You Stop Smoking Weed | VICE | United States

On the other hand, if you smoke (eat, vaporize, etc.) pot frequently for a long period and then quit, your brain goes through a period of making up for lost time, and you have really vivid and tripped out dreams for a few weeks. I'm too much of an addict to play games with that, but it's what happens. However, after I end a long pot smoking period, it takes me at least six weeks to be able to have long lasting, high quality lucid dreams again.

I consider marijuana a major enemy of lucid dreaming.

Lucid Dreaming | I don't know if I am lucid?

Hello people, I am new here on Dreamviews. Nice to meet you all! :D

I will give some information about myself. I've been trying to have a LD for 1 month and a few weeks. I have a dream diary starting from 24th Jan till today (7th March). I do like 7 reality check on average. But I do them seriously. I do the fingers-through-palm, counting finger, and nose pinching checks. I have had a few dreams where I dreamt that I was lucid, but I actually wasn't (level 0 lucidity). In one of my many dreams I actually got up from my bed and performed some RCs. If I was lucid (I'm not sure, I will ask my question later), lucidity lasted for 5 seconds max. Then few days later, I dreamt that I knew I was lucid, I even said to myself that I am actually sleeping in my bed, BUT.. I wasn't lucid. All this happened a month ago. Recently, I dreamt that I woke up in the night and started to do the DEILD. Of course, I was sleeping. But it felt real. Now comes the main topic I guess.. :P

Today, I had some VERY long dreams, and they were vivid. I think it is so because I have incorporated the ADA technique.

So in one dream, I was just looking at a netted railing, when I slowly began to realize it is a dream. Slowly, but surely in like 4 seconds. It wasn't instantaneous. Then after becoming sure, I performed the nose RC and it obviously worked. HOWEVER, unlike what I've read, neither the dream came into focus, neither it felt real, nor I became excited. So this brings up my question: Was I lucid? (detailed later)

Next, after attaining 'lucidity' I began to search for one of my favourite fictional character: Saigusa Haruka (<3). Even though I know it is tough for a beginner like me to summon DCs, it was one of my ardent wishes to meet her. I tried to summon her behind me. I tried to expect her. But it didn't work. So, I saw around and saw a fork in the street. I ran toward it and I actually saw a girl with pinkish-purple hair (Haruka has purple hair). But it wasn't her. Someone else. I tried to ask who she was but she wouldn't reply. Just after she said, "Do you want to know my name?", I woke up. I couldn't even say anything. I did a RC, and it failed. I woke up in reality and I checked the time: 7:44 AM. The 'lucidity' lasted for like 20 secs. I though that it was too early to wake up plus I might have some longer dreams. So I slept again. Oh.. btw, I woke up earlier too, around 5 I guess. That time I did the MILD. That is the reason, I presume I was, if I was, lucid. Then after sleeping again, first time I had a false awakening. I did the nose RC and it of course worked. I don't know if I was lucid again, but I THINK if the RC works, I will definitely become lucid. Yet again, I tried to find Haruka. It was night outside, so I tried to make it day. It didn't work. And as soon as I was out, I woke up again... or so I felt. This 'dream' lasted for like 10 secs I did nose RC again, and it worked again :D. BUT, there were certain indications that highlight I wasn't lucid. This time I smartly first stabilized the dream by rubbing, spinning etc. A feeling of being 'vacuumed' in reality went away. Now, I actually went out of my home. Just for the sake of my curiosity, I tried the hand checking RC. My fingers didn't pass through my palm, but my hand was distorted- my index finger being as small as the pinky finger. And from night it became morning. I continued to search Haruka (I love her <3). THIS time, I found her. Like she is, no dupes etc. And she was crying. I found her suddenly behind me. I think I expected her. After some embracement, I woke up in real. This one lasted for around 45 secs.

So this was my story. Now comes the question and the doubts.

Question) Was I lucid anytime I mentioned?

[a] If I was, then it was a disappointing experience, contrary to what I have read (LD being one of the best experience in life). Is LD really what I experienced?

[b] If I wasn't, then why, even after performing RCs and trying to find a DC and actually find them, I wasn't lucid? Something I'm missing? I think this is the correct option. I also think I'm missing out the 'Eureka!' feeling.

Doubts

[When I feel I wasn't lucid]:

{i} No expected focus of dream world.

{ii} No expected 'vividity' and realism (but maybe that's because I've just started).

{iii} No 'Eureka!' feeling after reality checks.

{iv} No excitement --something that beginners experience.

{v} No 'best-experience-of-the-life' feeling.

{vi} A feeling of unreliability, like the dream could collapse anytime, and I would wake up. This especially happens when I am about to wake up. It's like the feeling when you are being pulled out of a dream. And it is very frustrating.

{vii} Everything felt automatic, especially, the part where I had a false awakening and I did the nose RC. I mean, why would I suddenly think of doing the RC?

{viii} I didn't have a logical sense during the dreams. I couldn't think clearly. I could only think of finding Haruka, even though I have planned to first stabilize the dream.

{ix} I felt 'alienish'. In other words, I didn't feel like myself, nor I felt walking around the dreams (nearly the same as ^).

{x} I didn't 'actually' wanted to find Haruka. It's something I have 'planned'. My actual desire is to explore the dream world first and possible talk to some DCs in my first lucid dream.

{xi} Couldn't make it day. If this is tough for beginners, cut this argument.

{xii} Dream was 'fuzzy' when I tried to remember it, like usual dreams.

{xiii} How can I suddenly have 3 LDs in a night? I mean, the probability is extremely low.

[When I feel I was lucid]:

{i} Successful reality checks.

{ii} Successfully summoned the DC I wanted, though it took time.

{iii} I wake up after expected lucid dream duration for beginners -60 secs max.

{iv} Recent ADA technique and more exhaustive RCs during the day (mentioned in Dreamviews tutorials) could have been successful for me.

As you can see, my doubts where I feel I wasn't lucid clearly outnumbers the doubts I feel I was lucid.

I'm sorry for the wall of text, but I want everything I feel could give the most accurate answer.

P.S. I nearly got a WILD unexpectedly a month before, but the hallucinations scared the sh*t out of me :/

Lucid Dreaming | SSILD - Difficulty relaxing eyes

Hey chaps and chappettes!

I have been practising SSILD for a week or so. When it has worked it has been seemingly very effective, and I especially like that it is a fairly meditative technique, which I feel probably makes it beneficial for sleep and dreams regardless of whether you become lucid.

However, sometimes I find the 'visual' cycle difficult. Basically, my eyes just don't want to relax! As soon as I try to bring awareness to the blackness, my eyes seem to desperately want to find something to focus on, which seems impossible. This can cause aching in the brow area as well as working against feeling more relaxed and falling asleep. I feel I can relax my eyes when they're open fine, it's just when they're closed that the problems occur.

Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone have any tips/tricks to work with it?

Lucid Dreaming | WILD while moving?

Is there any way I can WILD by moving? Since I have to rub my feet together in order to fall asleep, and if I don't I start twitching like crazy. I know WILD is basically laying still, while doing something keep your mind awake while your body goes to sleep, but I thought maybe there is an exception :)

Lucid Dreaming | Help - Still Trying to Get Lucid (again)

I learned about lucid dreaming in September and have had one LD officially. I became aware and did a couple of things and then woke up) and possibly a second (I don't know if this counts) when I was dreaming about a snake and thought to myself, "It's only a dream" and my eyes popped open, awake. I want more!! I've flown a couple of times but I'm not sure I was lucid. Since then, I have read a couple of books, have logged 150+ dreams, do RC every hour, have tried WIL and MILD many times and listen to podcasts (repeatedly) when I'm in the car. Of course, I've spent some time reading information on DV but I'm fairly frustrated. I've slept a lot and meditated a lot which aren't bad things but good gracious; what does it take? I'm thinking next technique is looking at my hands before going to sleep and trying SL's "tonight in my dreams when I see my hands, I'll know I'm dreaming". I also know the belief and confidence that I will have one needs to be in place. Since I've had one, I know I I can have another! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your support.

Lucid Dreaming | Does this count as a LD?

So last night I had a strange dream but not sure if it falls into the lucid category. It may (slightly) by definition but personally I'm not sure if I should count it or not.

The Dream:

I was standing in a line in front of a vending machine. It appeared as if I was in a elementary school and I went back in time about 20 years. Myself and everyone around me looked like we were all maybe 10 years old. A black girl was in front of me and for no reason at all I punch/slapped her right across the face and she took off running and crying.

I had no idea why I did that and even in the dream I thought that didn't make a lot of sense. I wondered what was wrong with me and why I did that. I went ahead and got what I wanted out of the machine and heard the little girls mom that I just hit yelling. She was pissed and coming in my direction. I thought it serves me right and I deserve whatever is about to happen.

The mom approaches me and before she has a chance to say anything I ask her if we can speak in private. At that point I just wanted to apologize and take my ass chewing (and possibly ass kicking) away from everyone else. The mom agreed and we walked outside together. All of a sudden I got the urge to run and took off as soon as we went outside.

My coordination felt weak and I could only run so fast but the mom was even slower, she did stay on me though. I could stay ahead but I couldn't lose her and I wore down. I panicked and I don't remember thinking it was a dream but I just remember thinking I need to wake myself up to get out of this and I purposely tried to wake myself up until I did for real.

Then of course I was pissed at what a good opportunity I just blew.

Was that a lucid dream?

Lucid Dreaming | How to realize that you're dreaming in your dream without waking up?

Hey everyone I'm Karl and 17 years old.

And I've been quite trying to lucid dream for month now, I wasn't trying for whole month continuously it was maybe three or two weeks continuously. I still didn't have my first lucid dream yet. The problem with me isn't that I can't dream, the problem is that I can't realize that I'm dreaming. Everytime I go to bed I convince myself that I'm going to dream but it don't work, and when I manage somehow to realize that I'm dreaming I wake up immediately!.

So what should I do?

Lucid Dreaming | Meditating into sleep when you first go to bed

Recently I have been trying SSILD after WBTB. It feels quite suited to me and it seems to be having wonderful effects on dream recall and causing DILDs. The past few days I have been trying it, I have mostly become lucid by just suddenly realising I'm dreaming a few minutes into the dream. I didn't even need to reality check, it just seemed to happen spontaneously. My understanding is that this is due to increased awareness that was carried over from SSILD, which basically has you meditating yourself to sleep by bring your attention to the three main senses one at a time for a while.

My question is, does meditating as you fall asleep or doing SSILD before you first go to bed have an effect on your awareness in dreams, level of dream recall and quality of sleep? CosmicIron (I think I got that name right) who wrote the SSILD tutorial, if I remember correctly, says there's no point doing SSILD unless it's from a WBTB. But I've heard some meditators say that falling asleep mindfully brings a more restful sleep, and as far as I'm aware the practice of falling asleep consciously into NREM is a part of Tibetan Dream Yoga.

So does making an effort to be more aware whilst first falling asleep bring more awareness into the dreams throughout the whole night? It seems logical that it should, since the last thing you do before sleeping usually has an effect. I myself have had a few experiences of dreaming I was meditating after falling asleep following my breath. Even if it does not lead to lucidity in the first 4-5 hours, if we're being more aware in our dreams during that time (even if we don't know it), that would surely have an effect on our minds during a WBTB and/or in the latter part of the night. Right?

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on this matter?

Lucid Dreaming | Practicing VILD for 30 nights.

I want to make VILD my only lucid dreaming technique. I think it would be fun to track my progress here like some other threads.

I want to imagine a dream scene that's very simple and only takes a few seconds to play out. That way I can repeatedly imagine it in between breaths without much effort. I'll do this both as I'm falling asleep and immediately after I wake up from dreams, stopping only to write down dreams or get out of bed.

I'll start out by imagining, constantly in between breaths, a woman kissing me on the cheek as I'm lying down with my eyes closed and saying, "You're dreaming".

I'm eager to see how well this works!
